@Kyotoraz i think @utlooker10101 is already at texas tech. plus i think you have to complete 24 credit hours in residence at UT before u even transfer internally. On top of that its difficult to transfer into engineering internally. So there are lot of things other than the town of Lubbock and its weather to consider before moving to UT onto ur 3rd choice of major.
My friend just texted me and said he didn’t get into electrical or aerospace engineering (1st and 2nd choice majors respectively). However, UT accepted him but he had to choose a major in liberal arts. He declined the offer, and he is now an Aggie.
@utlooker10101 What were your 1st and 2nd choices, if you don’t mind sharing them?
lol yea I am already going to texas tech. I had electrical engineering as my first and mechanical engineering as my second. I hurried on the application and put down that I had a 3.8 instead of 3.885. Don’t know if that made a difference but I also didn’t have letter of recs, okay essays and hardly any clubs or activities. I’m surprised I still got in though. I have over 60+ credits and got all of my Cal requirments And physics. I don’t think I want to spend a year doing something I don’t want especially when it’s not a guarantee that I will get in later.
^ You should stay at Tech. Graduate and get out of Lubbock.
^exactly
Sorry I didn’t read that right
@TheThinker7 If you don’t mind me asking, did your friend have a 3.9-4.0 GPA? Those are my exact choices
@arod356 He’s in the range of 3.7-3.8. I don’t remember his exact GPA though.
Well just got accepted, but like @TheThinker7 not for my first or second choice majors. I’m given the option to go into undeclared liberal arts and try to transfer into engineering that way. I’ve always wanted to go to UT but its such a gamble and I’ve already been accepted into A&M. Not really sure what to do.
@bobrossthehaus If I were you, I would go to A&M instead. What’s your GPA if you don’t mind me asking?
@TheThinker7 3.7, Mechanical was first choice and Aero was second.
Oh hell. I have roughly the same gpa and chose mechanical and civil. That’s so rude. They won’t give you what you applied for but want your money so they offer you liberal arts. Man if you got into A&M I’d tell UT to piss off and join an actual program.
I just called the admission and they told me that its simply a rolling basis and that I can expect to hear anytime starting today till the last week of July
Last week of July is just insane… I am giving this until June 25th… Thanks for the update @mihilmy
I checked the past years threads and people by now should have recieved their decsions. I don’t understand what’s taking them so long @ecollin Good Luck
I know! And the people in last years thread who got their decision in June seemed to all be people who had less than 30 hours when applying… Most people with 30 hours found out in April or early May @mihilmy
I am sure I heard rolling basis, maybe I am mistaken. I have no idea !
Honestly no idea… I just know that people with 30 hours generally have heard back first in the past… which is most likely because the admissions got to their applications first… now when everyone’s application (with or without 30 hours) is complete… I have no idea how they will look at them. @Toastyful
