I won’t list anything from High School because it is almost irrelevant in transfer admissions
So with RTF if I don’t get in but an accepted into Cola with English… Is there anyway to still get the education the RTF students get or is it solely through the RTF program. Also if a transfer is possible will I be able to make progress towards the degree without being in the program? With electives, etc? And would I have to wait until next fall to internally transfer or next semester?
@alexd15 I honestly have no idea. I don’t know if they allow it as a minor or not. It may be tough to transfer internally but I think I am just going to wing it. We may have to wait two semesters before trying but I’m not totally sure. My guess is that we can probably take some entry level courses required for RTF (like pre-major classes?) and that might help us get accepted later too (because it won’t delay our graduation time as much - apparently UT has been really strict on graduating on time as of late). Maybe you should give the comm dept a call? I think I might do that myself.
Congrats to everyone who was accepted! Has anyone heard anything for Cockrell ME?
Sadly didn’t get in for PetE (3.6 GPA with great ECs), but got in as Undeclared. Guess I’ll try an internal transfer, hoping the GPAs next year stay the same as this year’s for internal. Hook 'em.
May be able to get an elective or two but you are not allowed to take classes from a major you were not accepted to. I got in for college of natural sciences last semester but not computer science and I couldn’t take any class from CSCN. There is no way around it unless you get accepted in the major you want.
My friend got into Her first choice Biology today and she was a CAP student. Soo happy for her and still waiting on McCombs:/
@puthar96 I think we’ll hear soon for McCombs. Since the internal transfer people heard first. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/1757880-internal-transfer-into-mccombs-2015-p3.html
@summeroo @alexd15 In order to transfer you need 24 hours in residency at UT. So essentially a year in Liberal Arts and then trying to internally transfer to Comm. For me personally, I can’t afford to spend an extra year in college. It saddens me because I’ve wanted to be a longhorn for so long but financially it doesn’t make sense. I think I’ll be attending the University of North Texas to finish out my undergrad for RTF. They gave me really great financial aid and it just makes sense for me. Their program isn’t as prestigious but there is always grad school. Best of luck to you guys!
@cdctransfer Sorry to see you won’t be attending hope you like University of North Texas!
Good luck @cdctransfer , sorry UT did not work out. But in the end, success comes from the person you are and not the school you attend!
Very well said @ecollin
Hello everyone,
I have been lurking this thread for the past 3 months. I compulsively checked this thread and mystatus everyday. It became borderline unhealthy at times lol Anyways, I was admitted yesterday, June 9th, to UT for COLA Undeclared, my second choice. I checked it at 3pm and mystatus was changed to admitted. My first choice was architecture, but I am still very grateful for admission. I plan to apply as an internally transfer to the school of architecture once I have enough UT credits.
This thread has been a very helpful tool. Seeing other’s stats really helped calm my nerves and was encouraging so I will give back and post mine.
96 credit hours from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio
3.29 transfer GPA
TONS of extra curriculars
Resident Advisor
2 letters of recommendation (1 from a former supervisor, 1 from my mentor who is dean of students at a liberal arts college)
I think my statement of purpose was very well written. I talked about my parents getting a divorce during my fourth year and being a first generation college student and how that affected my academic performance.
My other essay was just okay in my opinion.
I think my portfolio was pretty good. It had lots of content.
I moved to Austin 2 years ago and have accumulated a lot of work experience. In February, I started an internship at an architectural firm and I’m still working there.
At the end of the day, I don’t know exactly what factor got me in. But honestly, I was reluctant to even apply to UT because I thought my GPA was way too low. So if any of you are discouraged about your GPA, you never know. Feel free to ask me any questions. I hope this info helps. Congrats to all who have been admitted and good luck to everyone in review. Hook 'Em!
Congratulations to everyone who’s been accepted! I’ve been following this thread for a while now even though I’m planning to apply for the spring of 2016. I currently attend a UT feeder school and have a 3.53 GPA with 30 hours, and I’m applying for economics as my first choice and cola undeclared as my second choice. What do yall think my chances are of getting in?
@longhorntobe for undeclared very very likely … for economics on the low side … get your GPA up for Econ
Just as I was about to lose all hope for getting acceptance into UT, I am so glad I came across this thread and seeing that I am not the only one who still hasn’t received any response yet!
My first choice major is Nursing and my second is COLA, but I am expecting to get into my second choice because I am transferring in as a sophomore and have not completed all my prereqs yet.
Hopefully we hear back soon because this is torture! ;(
@commandbutton thank you for your feedback. what gpa do you think would get me into econ? i can get up to a 3.69 if i get a 4.0 next semester. also, do you know if the courses i took play a factor?
@longhorntobe it will definitely increase your chances to get in if you get 3.69
