Summer ideas- meet new smart people

Hey,

Si for the month of June to about Mid July, I’m taking a night summer course for speed reading that happens every Monday.

I don’t know what to do with the rest of my time; however, i go to a small private school and I’d like to meet smart people from my area. The only friends i have out of school aren’t all that smart.

What are some general local programs my area might have that i could check out? Is there a point of applying for a job i will only be available for 6 weeks? I don’t want a stupid job either. Any impressive ( to colleges) job ideas i could likely find locally?

Come on peoples! :/

Palm Springs is boring
Kidding (not really…my grandpa lives there and I have the pleasure of visiting him too often)
Anyway, what are you interested in? Don’t do something just to impress a college, do something that you LOVE

World of Warcraft

yeah but like i said… id like to meet some smart people in my area. :[
But I’d like to do something productive/ good for college.
I don’t even know what i can do around here. s;ldkfjas;ldkf I hate PS.

What stuff are you interested in (for fun and as a future career?)?

Dating site?

^ funny.

I want to go into engineering.
As for fun… art, poetry, chess, soccer (not good at it), umm… yeah.

I don’t want to meet new people to look for someone to date lol. I just want more friends since my school is so small.

Facebook…?

Get an internship with your local city’s planning department? Dunno about meeting interesting people, but it might be…uh…fun…
Like I said…it’s going to be hard finding something there. Work on the aerial tram? That might be different lol

MENSA maybe?

smart people… go to a prestigious college’s summer program? I know Brown has one…

doing a volunteer (missions) trip last summer was one of the best experiences of my life, if you’re up for it. (:

Speed-reading - “I once took a speed reading course. We read War and Peace. It was about something that happened in Russia.” - Woody Allen

^ lol I’ve heard that before. It was great.

@ koto. I’d be up for that but i don’t think my church offers that for kids under 18. I’m planning to do some trail repair work in the mountains though.

@ socalscott. Very interesting idea!! That would be so cool. I’m gonna call them and see if they’d let me do that aha.

But I still wish I could do something that would involve meeting smart kids from my area. :[ Sigh.

awww. there are some things you could prolly sign up for solo, though.

and smart people generally split up during the summer. all my friends do totally different things, from working to volunteering to summer programs.

ahh okay. Yeah, i wanna see if i can do an internship and maybe do some other volunteering… hmm, good ideas.
