Summer Internships at Investment Banks

Hi.
I am currently an undergraduate at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). I am majoring in Accounting and Finance and done with my first semester. Like any other aspiring student I too dream of making it to the investment banking field. For that I tried and got into prestigious B-schools in the world but due to certain family issues could not leave the country for study purpose. Now I am in Pakistan and I have had absolutely nil exposure to any I-banking firms because neither they give any presentations at campuses nor do they recruit from any. I doubt if Pakistan houses any major investment banks. Anyways I have been reading about target and non target schools pertaining to hiring of interns for summer internships. My only question is does me coming from a country where there are meager I banking resources and from a university which is not even internationally ranked hinder or absolutely diminish my chances to make into their freshmen internship to be held in the summer. It goes without saying that I would only apply when I meet their minimum requirements.

I would really appreciate honest opinions and candid responses backed by personal or close experiences.

Thanks in anticipation

Well you can never discount the fact that Pak universities aren’t fit on international standards but that doesn’t mean Paki students are any lesser. You could consider working on your skills particularly meant by your profession. I have same apprehensions regarding my university as you but don’t get hitched up.
