Summer Medical Research - Is it necessary

<p>Have an 11th grader that is top tier material, but cant find a local summer medical research project - any advice?</p>

<p>I know a doctor that got a undergrad degree in philosophy, and I’m pretty sure he didn’t do medical research to get into his undergrad program.</p>

<p>Most feel that at least some research experience is necessary IN COLLEGE if you plan to apply to medical school. Absolutely NOT necessary to apply to a top college for undergrad.</p>
