D23 waitlisted to Aspen and Brevard, waiting to hear from a couple of smaller and shorter in length North American festivals - US & Canada. Needs to decide between study abroad and internships at this point, but I know she is still hoping to hear she moved off the waitlists, but it is usually tough for flutes - movement is minimal at the orchestral festivals, and around three players on main roster.
I’m glad you had good experiences in Chautauqua. My son will be spending his summer there soon, sounds like a nice place.
Any flutists hear from EMF yet?
In 2021 D21 heard about acceptance mid-March. Flute Orchestra program.
What’s the experience of a Heifetz Jr students who don’t stay on campus? My child got accepted but she is not old enough to stay on campus. Do I have to escort her between classes? Or just drop her off in the morning and pick her up after school?
We just found out the meadowmount status from application portal. I think the decision email should be mailed out soon. It’s going to be tough now to decide between heifetz vs meadowmount. She has been leaning towards mm for the whole time while we parents are not sure about if it’s a good fit.
Around when did you hear you were moved off the waitlist? My D23 was waitlisted for Brevard College Institute for viola and desperately wants to go
Is this mostly high school or also after first years of college, I have senior with plans for this summer but thinking ahead for jazz programs.
Just found this thread.
Does anyone know when Bowdoin waitlist members will notified regarding final decisions?
There are many summer music festivals for college students. Some of these programs have a mixture of high school and college students.
Some have high school through grad school

I can’t remember- two or three weeks after being waitlisted? Early enough that they still were offering substantial scholarship money.
In general, I don’t think waitlists ever close until the program starts. Someone can always cancel at the last minute and then people on the waitlist could get a phone call. Emergencies do happen even after everyone has figured out where they wish to study over the summer.
Bowdoin’s relatively late decisions this year are causing some movement… I don’t know how long that will take to wash through the other festivals.
My son is in at Meadowmount as well, but no scholarship funds, so he’s going to accept the offer from Brevard, it was a great scholarship (high school viola.)
Anyone hear from Ascent Chamber festival yet? I thought the notification was mid-March, but we still haven’t heard anything.
My daughter was notified for Ascent weeks ago – on 2/27. I would email them.
My violinist son (HS class of 26) was accepted to Bowdoin on 3/6. We have not heard yet from Meadowmount.
I know this question is kind of old, but if you’re still looking, Birch Creek Summer Music Academy - Big Band Jazz. It’s amazing.
Anyone know about charles ives music festival? Apparently they have a composition program
Well, we’ve got a bit of a conundrum. We’ve committed to Brevard and paid the non- refundable deposit. Now today we have received acceptance from Tanglewood from their waitlist.
Because of overall camp cost and larger scholarship offer, the BUTI total cost is actually less than what we still owe Brevard.
Which would you do?
Keep in mind this is a horn player who is only 16. He would be doing only the Wind Ensemble at Tanglewood because the YAO runs almost 3 weeks into our school year. Brevard runs both wind and orchestra as part of theirs.
Other thoughts: if he was initially waitlisted at BUTI but immediately accepted at Brevard, maybe he’d be one of the top players there? For purposes of chair placement, solos etc.
Seems like Tanglewood has a lot of cool concerts.
Any thoughts are most welcome!
