My kids did not apply to EMF and I was literally second guessing a couple days ago if they should have… but many of our musician friends are sharing that EMF announced today that they will not be holding the festival for this summer. This is disappointing and it sounds like they were not offering their music faculty members reasonable contracts. As one of our friends accurately put it “we train students to become professionals, who we don’t want to treat properly.”

This was on my sons list and he is very disappointed, just got the email this morning. Lots of work and time spent recording this audition when that could have been spent on others. Plus they cancel the whole festival one week after submissions closed. Sounds like it is all a mess and we are disappointed for the faculty and potential students. Will potentially hurt them going forward too.

Yes, and I’m presuming there was no mention of refunding people’s application fees. It’s both disappointing and a bad look all around.

Surprisingly, they did say they would refund all application fees. We all would have been complaining and that would have been an awful look.

Do you by chance know if the waitlist for the Young Artists Piano Program (YAPP) moves at all? Trying to figure out my child’s odds.

Congrats to the folks who heard from BUTI! Anyone hear any word from Ascent yet?
If you email the buti office they’ll tell you if your child is on the first part of the waitlist or farther down so you get a better sense of odds. Tanglewood is a magical place during summer, best of luck to your kid!

We haven’t heard from Ascent yet but believe decisions for Ascent and Green Mountain are supposed to be released by March 1.

We heard from Ascent last night. Does anyone have any experience with how they award scholarships? The email did not mention anything about tuition or financial assistance, only that a bill would be coming!

BUTI email said “to confirm attendance by March 7, Friday, 5:00pm ET, by signing enrollment agreement and paying deposit.”

Received an early acceptance for viola from Bowdoin, but my understanding is it is instrument by instrument and that regular results have not gone out yet.

Yes, that is what our email said as well (due March 7.) They do not budge on that date. Scholarship announcements come out tomorrow (Wed), so there may be some movement on the waitlist if you are one.
Probably isn’t going to end up going as it conflicts with another program I am not allowed to yet publicly say she was accepted to. But it always feels good to get an acceptance.
Heard yesterday evening from Heifetz. Decision required by midnight tonight.
