I would say pretty good chance for Viola, it could be tougher for smaller sections, like flutes.

We live in New Zealand. My son (17), a violin student, has been accepted into the Ascent Chamber Music Festival 2025. He’s never been to a residential summer camp before, let alone one in the USA, and we’re all excited. We think the opportunity to learn from top professionals in the field, plus the grind, the networking and the information gathering, will be absolutely invaluable. Any tips from people who have been to the Ascent camps earlier will be highly appreciated. :slight_smile: Thank you!

Hi all,

My daughter(16) got into NYO2, BUTI, and Heifetz. She is turning down NYO2 and BUTI so that should open up a spot for two lucky individuals! She is going to Heifetz because the teachers she wants to study under are on faculty. Good Luck everyone!

CQP is awesome. Son went last two years- but I wouldn’t send someone who isn’t able to be responsible. Participants are treated like adults.

Does anyone have any feedback on the Aria Academy? The agenda looks interesting, but I have not heard as much about it.

S24 was accepted a few years ago and wound up going to kinhaven instead. I was concerned about the lack of activities and organization for a young HS student going there alone but the teachers are amazing and he was considering applying again now that he is a college student.

Unfortunately my son was waitlisted for BUTI Young Artists Piano Workshop. :frowning: Any personal experience with getting off the waitlist or with this piano program in general?

It does look interesting and with some really great faculty! I was looking at it as well and was not able to find out any info feedback on it.

It depends on the individual goals and preferences. That may vary depending where they are on their musical journey. Mine very much enjoys orchestras, but between her Junior and Senior year chose a chamber program that allowed for much individual work on her college repertoire. This year she’s very excited to be attending her dream Orchestra based festival since auditions are behind her.

Has anyone heard from Bowdoin yet (cello)? I was under the impression we were supposed to have a decision this week.

I would email. They have been very responsive to emails and can sometimes give decisions ahead of official release. Having said that, they are so late on cello this year that probably every cellist is already committed!

Which program and instrument? Waitlist moves even a week before the start of the program at BUTI.
