Summer Program Big List- Data/Info - keep adding

Performing Arts Project

Does anyone know anything about Broadway Theater project in Florida. My daughter just auditioned via DVD and was accepted. I’m wondering how big an achievement this is and what people who have attended in the past think of the program. Everything I’m reading so far looks very good, but we have never spent that kind of money on a summer program before. She’s ready to take her training up a notch from what is available locally. Is it worth it? Thanks.

My D went last year and had a wonderful time. That said, as you look back through these posts, you will see there was a ā€œdivorceā€ in the program last summer. About 95% of the staff is now involved in a program called The Performing Arts Project that will be at Wake Forest. Some parts are the same, some parts are different. I’m sure both will be a wonderful experience. Mine is auditioning, hopefully soon via DVD to TPAP and hoping to go there.

Mpulse- Finally getting around to uploading the application stuff- a FEW days before it’s due! Has anybody done this? What is the file format for the DVD auditions? I have a MAC and use Imovie. It doesn’t say on their site and I logged into the upload site and you can’t get to the DVD page until you upload the transcript/photo, etc? Can you upload some at one time and then go back and do the rest? I filled in the first page and then stopped because we need to get the stuff together. I did mail the rec letter so that should get there on time. Thanks!

Nope. You have to go in order to upload each item on the site. Whoa…we just finished. It was quite a process. Very detailed.

Did you save the file in MP4, M4v?

My son did it with iMovie and he saved it as mp4. Hope that helps.

Yes! Thank you!

Has anyone attended the live audition for Performing Arts Project? My son is attending this weekend in Atlanta and wants to know what to expect.

Does anyone know about BoCo’s musical theatre dance intensive- specifically, just how talented at dance one needs to be?

@xoemmie - My D attended the BoCo’s first musical theatre dance intensive program last Jul 2011. And it was really intensive (but also fun). Focus is really on dance although they have sessions for singing and acting (for triple threat performers). D had a great time as she really is into dancing - 14 years of ballet, 8 years of jazz and tap. And the program prepared her for her college audition with BoCo since it has the most intensive dance audition among the colleges she applied for.

Unless something has changed, I believe you have to audition for the summer program.

Correct. Audtion is required (also indicated on BoCo’s website) and all other requirements inlcuding artistic resume, headshot, teacher’s recommendation, etc. Audition could be in person (preferred) or video. D sent video as we live 8,000 miles away.

I just got an email from Performing Arts Project that they are reviewing applications and will be informing us via email BY March 1.

Yup, we got it too. Good luck!

Anyone hear from PAP?

Does anyone have any info on CMU’s pre-college program for vocal performance?

My son just heard about TPAP and unfortunately it was a no. He is a rising junior so I guess he will try again next year. He applied to 2 other programs so we are still hoping for a yes. Good luck everyone!

redscorpion6- was it an email?

Yes TPAP sent an email. We know 2 others that received an acceptance.
