I’d like to find a program that hosts multiple colleges so that my D can get feedback from specific schools. I looked at SUTE but the dates don’t work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I saw BAA will have faculty but it looks like this is a minor part of this short program. Thanks in advance.
@All4FSU Curious if you would share how many of the students who attended the FSU Summer MTI were later accepted into the FSU MT BFA program? A lot of parents have warned in these summer MT threads that attending the summer intensives at top choice school can sometimes hurt their chances of later receiving an acceptance into the programs. While it does give the kids a chance to experience life as a BFA at those schools, It also does make sense that the kids show their best 4 minutes at an audition, but expose all of themselves to the faculty of the summer programs, flaws and all, and that may be risky. Can you provide insight? Thank you in advance!
@SingerDancerMom
I am going to move the FSU part of your question to the Florida State University page because that is specific to us. I will answer as best I can – as anyone who has attended my Q&A can attest, I’m pretty straightforward.

I can only give you my opinion based on what I’ve seen – the FSU MTI is only in its fourth year. I do agree that a student shouldn’t attend a summer program with the goal of getting accepted to that program. Even for the programs that do it, It is a very small percentage. The reason to attend is to grow, work on polish and hone in on strengths and weaknesses with people who really understand what your goals are as an MT hopeful. I see that growth happen almost unilaterally with MTI kids – many have surprised me in the audition room. I would venture to say that the university faculty teaching in the summer intensives are really invested in these kids- they really want to see them do well with their auditions and be accepted to a program that is a good fit- whether it’s the university where the intensive takes place or not. All programs have a significant number of applicants that they really wish they could admit, but can’t due to class size limits. I think we all are hopeful that those students land somewhere perfect for them – it’s the same with the summer program participants. Ultimately, we become part of their cheering section.

SSTI (Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute) has some openings for performers and tech students, as of this morning. Amazing program!
Boston Conservatory Music Theatre Dance Intensive, https://youtu.be/XOIZbDdtk90. Includes acting and singing, and excellent for both beginning and experienced dancers!
I would add that BOCO added an Music Theater Acting Intensive for the first summer this year (2019) that was excellent. Highly Recommend.
College Light Opera Company summer stock theater group in Falmouth, MA does 9 shows in about ten weeks. Free room and board. Must be 18 or over, most performers are in college or grad school.
Asked this on the acting board, but haven’t received a response yet. MT is way more active, so thought I’d repost the question here: Looking for info on the NHIS Cherubs summer program. Everything I’ve read on here seems to be from top students whose academic profiles match with NW’s rigorous standards. D is a good student with good grades and test scores, but not high enough for a NW admit. She’s very interested in the acting for film program, but will apply to both that and theater. She has a strong acting resume. Website says students should have at least a B average, and she fits into that, but no mention of test score range. Anyone with good/average test scores get in?
@SoMuchDrama I’m not familiar with this summer program specifically, but the performing arts summer programs I am familiar with don’t even look at test scores when evaluating applicants.
SSTI has added two more shows this summer (so 4 total) plus their new (last year) SSTI Essentials. If you have a tech kiddo too SSTI is amazing for them as well. https://www.summertheatreinstitute.com
@Twelfthman yeah, I think this may be the only one! She has to send in transcripts, essays, recommendations, and standardized test scores. She hasn’t taken the SAT or ACT yet, but they even ask for PSAT if that has bee taken.
Florida State University summer Music Theatre Intensive application/audition is open in GetAcceptd. The deadline is March 1st. Please message me with any questions!

A lot of summer programs are getting cancelled. Just learned about this virtual summer program, the Summer STEM Institute. If you’re interested in STEM/research, it seems really cool. Does anyone know of any other STEM virtual summer opportunities? This is the only one I’ve heard of so far.
Hi @anonymous0320 , this is the Musical Theatre board. Not sure where the STEM one is but this post will be get much more traction there. ![]()
Hi! New to this forum! My son will be graduating in the class of 2021 and I wanted to share exciting news about a summer theater program he will be attending virtually this June. It’s called the Summer University Theatre Experience. They are taking the program online this year and all of the faculty are committed to doing it. Class size will be limited to 9 students and the faculty are from Boston University, Carnegie Mellon, Chapman, DePaul, Hartt, University of Michigan, North Caroline School of the Arts, Otterbein, Pace, Penn State, Rutgers, Texas State University, UCLA, and USC. There are two different tracks, one for Musical Theater and one for Acting. They put it on GetAcceptd this year and I know they extended the deadline since the COVID-19 outbreak. My son is really looking forward to working with all these amazing faculty from the top schools and I just wanted to share this with you all!

Really useful lists. Thanks all.
With the new format I can’t find the school-specific forums, so I’m going to put this here…
Applications are open on GetAcceptd for Florida State University’s summer 2021 Music Theatre Intensive. We are planning (and keeping fingers crossed) for in person, residential. The application deadline is March 1st.

Do you know of any non prescreen schools?
Sorry if this has been covered but the thread is very long to read through. Does anyone know how many get accepted to MPulse at Michigan, how many get waitlisted, etc…
Thanks.
