Summer Programs in Science

What are some helpful and prestigious science summer programs for a prospective medical student? Additionally, I have heard that many of the programs that are very costly are not very beneficial and instead look poor on applications as (sometimes) anyone with a hefty wallet and mediocre statistics can get in. Thanks in advance.

Summer is approaching. Bump time!

It’s far too late in the year to apply to anything “prestigious”; most such programs have deadlines in late winter/early spring. Most rolling admissions programs are still open, I believe, but those tend to be the expensive ones with relatively open admissions.

At this point, your best bet in terms of doing something beneficial for college applications is to look for local internship/volunteering opportunities, study for the SAT/write college applications, and perhaps take a class or two at a local university/community college.
