I want to put together a reading list for this summer because I love reading but lately don’t make time for it. I want a mix of classics and good modern books, so what are some good book ideas?
I would recommend books that relate to your desired major. I currently have read books based on Statistics and Mathematics and let me tell you - it is extremely interesting. One of the variables that led me to confirm that stats/math is the career for me, I’ve also read others in sophomore year that I was interested in (Psych and Business) and it led me to change my interest. Books are a powerful source of material…
Now, as for classics and good modern books. I don’t read a lot of them because of time constraints, but I’ll give you the list of books I had to read for school & my favorites.
Odyssey by Homer
The Pearl by John Steinbeck
The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver
Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver (sequel to TBT)
Darius & Twig by Walter Dean Myers
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (LOVE the ideology of the American dream here)
Geektastic: Stories from the Nerd Herd
If you need more let me know, I have a bunch - just typed first that came to my mind.
