<p>After reading a lot of the “chances” threads for Princeton ED, i’ve seen that a lot of people have done research projects of sorts. I was just kind of curious as to what everyone else has studied. I’ll go first:</p>
<p>I spent two summers at Cornell Med. Center, the first one learning, and the second studying VEGF-B, an isoform of VEGF, a protein involved in tumor growth, development, and metastasis.</p>
<p>I researched the possible existence of an Underground Railroad stop in my town and pre-Revolutionary general store account books with a Smithsonian foresnic genealogist. That was a mouthful. -_-</p>
<p>How do you guys get to do all these amazing things?? I’m so jealous!</p>

I’m sure that it will be refreshing for Princeton to hear of research that is NOT medicine related.</p>
<p>yeah i am feeling left out lol. no research for me. i had no idea there were high schoolers doing real research :(</p>
<p>well my school has a “science research” program. It’s not limited to biology in any way though, I have friends studying psychology, and sports science and such.</p>
<p>i did filmmaking-based research 
and
history research :(</p>
<p>ummm I did a case study at my internship if that counts lol
And I did some computer science/mathematics research for a science project haha</p>

<p>i researched the possible inhibitory effects of grafted FKBP8 mutant mouse embryonic stem cells on the development of wild-type embryos(blastocysts, more specifically)</p>
<p>lol now that’s a genuine nerd.</p>
<p>I’m unofficial member of research team in local university. The research is in quantum computing/molecular quantum physics.</p>
<p>I have done two different research projects. One in Aeronautical engineering and one in Electrical. For electrical I got to work in a lab employed by Motorola so that was cool. I developed an algorithm to reduce noise in cell phone speech signals. Some really cool stuff is being developed for cell phones so keep an eye out!</p>
<p>I actually researched complex mathematical algorithms (Mandelbrot Set, Chaotic Attractor, etc) and wrote a Java Program implementing them to create original MIDI music so that someone with no musical knowledge could compose music with just a touch of a button.</p>
<p>so HA I’m a nerd too.</p>
<p>I was supposed to spend the summer doing neuroscience research with a professor at Georgetown whom I’d contacted after attending a symposium at the medical school, but at the last minute he had to cancel because of ‘department politics’ (something about me being underage and not being able to get clearance to work with animals)… so that was a huge disappointment.</p>
<p>isn’t it insane that COURTNEY SACHS did research 20hrs/week since 9TH GRADE!!!</p>
<p>how does she have time for all that? i didn’t even know ppl could get steady jobs for research like that</p>
<p>lol I’m betting that’s an exaggeration…</p>
<p>20hrs/wk since 9th grade is like having a job for four years.</p>
