I received a 60 for the first term of Algebra 2, a failing grade, however I received a 96 on the standardized test on this subject and received a 92 second term in this course. Is there anyway to argue that I shouldn’t be placed into summer school, I obviously know the material .
Talk to your teacher. If your teacher is the one making you take the summer school, maybe you could ask your guidance counselor? There might be another placement test you could take to prove that you know the material, for example the summer school final exam or another exam that may be available.
Even if you do know the material, I think that you should retake the course. Having a D on your transcript might harm your chances of getting into a good school. If you really don’t want to take it over the summer, try seeing if there are credit recovery options during the school year. You can also try taking an online course at community college. This way you’ll get college credit and replace your grade at the same time without having to actually be present in the class.
