Nervous about this. :(

^^ I hear that.

Socorro was out of the question for me as well :/

All my summer programs have been in California… so I said that I preferred Socorro because I want to get out of here for once. xP (I should probably how to spell it first.)

are you all applying to any other programs?are there any that you would prefer to go to more than ssp?

I’m asking cause as waitlisted I wait (duh) for the us admissions results, as people who would turn down the ssp offer would make a room for me, and I am curious how many people could possibly choose a different summer program/course/whatever…

I’ve applied to 3 other programs (Clark’s, HSHSP and NIH). I would prefer one of those to SSP (I really want to do original research), but my chances are MUCH better at SSP.

When do you guys think the decisions are going to come out?
The e-mail said it might come this weekk
maybe thursday? cuz we got the e-mail last thursday

better here?
i thought this was the program with really unpredictable admissions.

i wish they’d send out the admissions letters already; i don’t like panicking every time i get a new email. stupid spam…

Haha same here. Every time my phone vibrates I whip it out to check if it’s the SSP decision. It never is -_-

I’m just going by admittance rates. Clark fell from 7% to about 5%, and I’m sure HSHSP (even though last year’s admittance rate was much higher than SSP’s rate) will experience a severe drop as well. And for NIH, I just applied late and high schoolers compete with grad students for spots.

Lol all of you sound so organized. I was just doing my thing and in December (maybe even January?) I got an email about SSP, so I looked into it a bit more and thought this could make for an interesting summer, so I applied and I got in It’s actually quite unfair in my opinion to those who have been looking forward to applying for one year or more.
It was only once I applied to SSP that I realized I really do need a summer program, so I started looking into a few others, but not too seriously.

Hey guys,

I applied without financial aid, but at this point I think that I will need it. If I am accepted, do you guys think that I could still apply for financial aid?

and good luck everyone i hope you all get accepted ^_^

I am literally on the fence between this and another program I already got into. They are dead even in my mind. 50-50.

Yes, you can apply for financial aid upon acceptance.

i can’t focus on anything…
i m calling thursday

Please let us know the results of that call :)

no like i m betting it’s today looool

Rejected. Good thing I have back-ups :)

I’m an alternate: “We are confident that you are qualified for and prepared to benefit from SSP. However, because we received a record 667 applicants for only 72 positions, we cannot admit every qualified applicant.”

Anyone know how long the alternate list is? And anyone accepted planning on dropping out? Has anyone in the past gotten off the alternate list? SSP is my top choice and I really hope to go.

Just got my decision during History -_- Rejected. Good luck everyone, and congrats to those accepted!

PS: I’ll be back for next year’s thread ;)
