Summer TV Discussion - Big Brother

@abasket I don’t watch the feeds but I follow a twitter page that tweets out stuff and RHAP live feed updates, and they mentioned it in that. I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but I don’t think it is significant enough to show especially after all the stuff that has been happening the last two or three days. The next two episodes should hopefully be really good, but there really isn’t enough time to show it all so I’m hoping they make the edits right.

I don’t watch the feeds; all I know is what’s on CBS.

For starters, SOMEONE should get Cody some help. CBS, the VA-- someone needs to help him with his anger issues. “I don’t like the guy” isn’t enough justification-- in the house or out-- for his behavior. Jess is smart to see the red flags he keeps throwing out.

Josh is a bully. And an idiot. He thinks he’s one of the cool kids and doesn’t realize that all the real cool kids are just keeping him around for his ability to get to Cody and Mark. I hope he’s gone very soon-- I really just hate watching all his antics. He’s either in tears or giving someone else a hard time— and we all know exactly how he would react if he were on the receiving end of such treatment. Cody had it right (though was out of line for saying so) earlier in the season: Josh is a professional victim. And I wish that one of those houseguests had the guts to tell him to cut it out-- that he’s crossing a line time and time again.

I think Paul should have offered to use his veto to take Jess off the block. That way, Cody could go home, and she would have the hex for one more week-- giving her time to mend fences if she needed it.

@bjkmom Some people on Reddit have claimed that a lot of Cody’s behavior is PTSD. There are a lot of traumatizing things that have happened in his life which he has talked about on the feeds.

Also, I agree, it is very very ironic that Josh calls everyone a bully yet him and his dad(Paul) go around bullying everyone.

Tonight’s episode should really show the casual viewers how disgusting Paul really is, hopefully. I am going to be pissed if CBS protects its golden child again.

That edit was wayyy too nice to Paul. They didn’t show Paul getting all his minions to attack Cody and question his military status at all. This even got picked up by TMZ and other news outlets. Paul was trying to get Josh to get under Cody’s skin in hopes that Cody throws a punch or something. Pathetic.

I’m not going to spoil anything that happened in the edit, but come back when you watch the episode so we can talk about the upcoming week.

I don’t like mobs.

I don’t like bullies.

There… I’ve just eliminated pretty much all the houseguests.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

I agree that Paul was trying to get Josh (and others) under Cody’s skin. I wouldn’t go as far as to say he was hoping for a punch to be thrown.

This is Big Brother so expecting everyone to “play nice” - is just not the game. Big Brother is manipulating, sketchy, conniving, back stabbing - all of it. I don’t think anyone is a saint. But Cody - he would scare me in real life. From the first week, he struck me as scary. And Jessica is just a queen who has sunk herself.

I’m actually thrilled that Josh is HOH. Good for him. He won’t be here forever, let him have a moment.

@abasket There was a point in the week where they were literally trying to get Cody to get expelled due to violence. Production told them to knock it off, thankfully.

If Josh didn’t win HOH they were going to make Josh, Cody, and Jess have nots for the week. That would have been really interesting.

Josh HOH is going to be insanity. I can already see it coming. Idk how Josh doesn’t see that Paul has been using him. Josh seems to be ok with Paul controlling him.

Also, Jason’s speech was Paul’s idea.

Paul is giving me a Paulie vibe honestly.

Ugh, shouldn’t have read these posts, haven’t seen it here in the West.

Can we have a do over of the season with new participants. This is the worst casting ever.

@raclut Overall I really like the cast when they aren’t 2 v 8 with like 6 out of the 10 people playing only for jury. Once Jody leaves the game should get better as Paul won’t be able to keep all his promises and people will start comparing notes and playing their own games.

I absolutely understand that this is a numbers game, and that loyalties are a fleeting thing.

But they HAVE the numbers. It’s pretty much the house against Jess and Cody, and I don’t see those numbers changing significantly.

So the bullying is simply for fun. There’s no goal in mind other than to be mean to the 2 people that most of the house wants gone.

And I find that reprehensible.

I think the worst part is how Josh acts. He gets mad and says that his family is watching and he is getting disrespected, but then he goes out and then makes a huge fool of himself. Then, he seems to be able to dish it out but not take it. In the DR’s he acts like he’s Dr. Will/Boogie and then two minutes later you find him crying because someone said something to him.

I think Josh knows he’s lucky to still be there and is “enjoying” every moment he has - and will impact the show in whatever way he can even if he can’t win. He’s a character for sure, but I’m thankful for him and Paul to give me a laugh or two while watching - because beyond them, this season’s contestants (besides Jessica/Cody which I feel the complete opposite about) are DRY.

He doesn’t have a single thought that’s his own other than “Poor me!”

He’s Paul’s puppet. Paul says “turn it up to 30” and Josh does.

The moment Cody and Jess are gone, so is Josh.

This is Big Brother. I admit to only having watched the last 4 seasons or so, I’m not a veteran. But to expect anything more from the show than "peeping Tom into a house of occupants who are vying against each other for $$, would be wrong. It’s BUILT on controversy, conniving and going against your word. If I was looking for a show that was showing good values and honesty…I wouldn’t be watching BB!

@abasket That is fair I guess, but I never minded watching Dan even though he’d lie and manipulate out of everything. People were mad when he swore on the Bible and stuff but that didn;t really phase me because I understood that it’s just a game. Maybe this season just annoys me due to my hatred of Paul.

Always on reality shows there are people who rub us the right way and the wrong way. And my “right” could be your “wrong” and vice versa!!!

Is there really any doubt that contestants are not encouraged to create drama and “let go” to make the show interesting? For sure, things can get out of control sometimes but that is also true of real life - we all go over the edge sometimes!

I’ve been watching most of it and reading about the feeds. Paul, Raven, Josh, Christmas, and Alex were absolutely disgusting with the bullying.
Jason and Kevin weren’t completely blameless.

Paul absolutely was trying to get Cody to throw a punch and/or quit. They didn’t show it on the episode but it was spelled out in the feeds. He and his minions didn’t stop until production called them into the DR one at a time to tell them to knock it off. And that was after people watching the feeds were in an uproar over comments on Cody’s military service and calling on BB to stop it.

I haven’t seen Cody actually bullying anyone. I’ve seen him be tactless, blunt and rude. He has a horrible social game and can’t make small talk to save his (game) life. But I haven’t seen him purposefully set out to be hurtful. He’s just not going to fake it with people he doesn’t like.

Cody and Jess have played a horrible social game. They don’t deserve to win for it. But having someone likes Paul who thrives on emotionally hurting people is nauseating. He is gleeful over what he does. It’s not for the game. He’s done it this season and he did it last season (see if you can find the YouTube where he was standing over a cowering Bridget as he decimated her, calling her disgusting and telling her how everyone hates her and then his happy recounting later).
I’m sure there are people who enjoy this kind of thing and that’s why people like Paul are cast. I hate it. I didn’t watch the show for years after Evil Dick and it might end up happening again. I don’t mind lying and conniving (i.e. Letting everyone think Ramses took the $25k) and I don’t care if some people honestly say they nominated/voted out someone because they don’t like them. But harassing someone, criticizing their military service, parenting, lyingly calling them a sexual predator, etc is just over a line.

I have watched the show from the beginning and over the years there have some very interesting participants.
I just don’t have a favorite at this time. Maybe when a few more of them get eliminated and I see who are really playing the game well it will get more interesting for me. I do like watching the competitions to see who the strong players are and who just gives up quickly. Only time will tell.

@mom2twogirls Did they even show Kevin telling Paul about the 25k and Paul/Kevin blaming everything on Ramses including all the hinky votes and stuff? I sometimes forget what was on the feed updates and what was on the edit.
