I always wear sun screen when working or playing outdoors for any extended length of time. But I should be wearing it every day to also block out the incidental exposure you get from walking outside briefly or the UVA exposure you get through the car side windows while driving. But I also HATE sun screen in general and the feeling of it on my skin. I always can’t wait to immediately wash it off once I get in from outdoor activities.
So my question is does anyone know of a brand and type of sun screen, unscented and SPF 15 or higher, that basically “disappears” after you put it on? That leaves no greasy or painted-on feeling after application and pretty much feels like it’s not even there?
Yes, yes, yes…found it last summer, it had just come out. Believe it or not…Banana Boat. It now comes in a matte. It’s in a light blue bottle. My whole family went nuts after I found it. I wear it everyday on my face now.
Angie from HotandFlashy likes Australian Gold Matte. I need to try that, but I love mine so much.
Neutrogena—best around. We are also fair skinned and blond/red. We can go to Florida (from Michigan) and put on one application of SPF 45+ and be fine for the whole day.
I used the Neutrogena until this came on the market last year. I think it’s worth a try. I used to just use the neutrogena on my face and other stuff on my body.
Timely topic as I’ve just returned from a facial where we discussed sunscreen. I hate that thick feeling and I don’t like when they leave a white film. I strongly dislike both the Oil of Olay and the Neutrogena. I’m really picky.
If I’m in the sun for a beach type of vacation I use Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration for the face. I also will use The zinc that comes in a tub. I can’t think of the brand. It goes on white but disappears fairly quick. It also isn’t heavy feeling.
I just bought Skinceuticals physical fusion UV defense spf 50 @kelsmom at the recommendation of the woman who does my facials.
I also use a tinted sunscreen by Urban Decay called Naked skin spf 20. It’s good for everyday but I don’t think it’s emough for a day at the beach.
Another option is a loose mineral sunscreen. It’s a powder. I use Colore Science broad spectrum spf 50. Its a titanium dioxide/zinc oxide mix. I buy it from my dermatologist but I think other brands make something similar. I have white Irish skin so I’ve tried a lot of different brands.
Another idea is Sephora puts together a summer sun package that comes with sample sizes of a lot of different sun products. I think it is in the stores now. That way you can try a lot of different brands.
Another vote for Neutrogena. My son’s had/have very sensitive skin, And would literally cry from sunscreen when they were younger. Neutrogena is the only thing they will use on their faces to this day.
I use Cerave face cream with SPF30 as everyday face cream. I also have Eucerin body lotions with sunscreen, but they are kind of thick.
The Banana Boat does not appear to be fragrance free.
I also hate sunscreens and have invested in certified UPF hats and clothing.
When needed, I use this on my face. It’s a tiny bottle but you only need a tad:
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunscreen, Broad Spectrum SPF 70, 1.4 fl oz
Target brand Up & Up Sport Sunscreen SPF 30 is water resistant, fragrance free, fine for the body although it will leave a sheen. Cheap, easily available and travel friendly.
I use sunsleeves and fingerless sungloves in the car. I have some sleeves that are normal-looking enough to leave on when I leave the car to shop.
My issue with facial sunscreens is that they usually require reapplication after 4 or so hours. If I’m out of the house wearing foundation, etc., there’s no way I can take off my makeup, apply sunscreen, and reapply makeup. (And as a result I have sun damage on the side of my face that’s by the window when I drive.) Has anyone found a non-greasy sunscreen for the face that lasts the better part of the day?
