as a result of budget cuts SUNY Albany suspends new majors in classics, some languages, and theatre… :frowning:

“As part of the plan for reducing costs in the Colleges and Schools, admission has been suspended for all NEW undergraduate and graduate students to five program areas – Classics, French, Italian, Russian, and Theatre – pending the outcomes of the remainder of the consultation process, including comment and discussion with faculty and the University Senate. This means that unless an exception is granted, undergraduate students – who are not already a major in one of the program areas under discussion – cannot declare or apply to be a major in one of these disciplines at this time. Also, unless an exception is granted, students who are not already a minor cannot declare a minor in these program areas either. At the graduate level, no new applications for admission to any program in these areas will be accepted.”
