Email or regular mail? We were thinking that since it was not offered yet, there was no hope! DS class of 22 HS graduate didnāt get Scholars, but got FRI. He was a pretty strong candidate, NMF, strong GPA, activities and rigor, attends Duke, got into Cornell, etc. Thus, DS class of 24 with similar stats (10 points lower on SATs, still NMF, and a touch lower GPA, but a WAY better essay), didnāt expect to get Scholars, but was hoping. He also got FRI. Has anyone reached out and asked for reconsideration? Edited to add: acceptance came in November.
It came in an email first but we didnāt know as our son hadnāt checked. It came in the mail in a big envelope with a certificate.
Thanks. DS24 is 75% attending Binghamton (waiting on a few extreme longshots, but due to finances may choose Binghamton even if he gets a surprise acceptance). Scholars would have sealed the deal! Two of his friends got Scholars but will not be attending, for sure. It was disappointing, but expected.

At least for me, fri and scholars emails came at the same time.

We had a moment of joy when a big envelope that said āhonorsā came yesterday, but it was just FRI, not Scholars. DS is coming around. He really wanted to live in the honors dorm, but Iām getting him to look at the other options.

I have two children who both applied EA, Child #1 accepted before Christmas with offer for the FYRI. Child #2 was deferred until spring, April 1,ā¦ such a long wait!
Child #1 received email today. Deadline to accept admission offer is extended until May 15th.
Any thoughts on how this will impact offers for those who were deferred? How can they make offers on April 1st if EA acceptance not due until 45 days later?
No impact. Deferral means applicant is now being considered in the context of the other RD applicantsā¦and the assumptions admissions have made about likely yield from EA. It is not like for every EA that declines, they open up a new RD spot (not until after enrollment deadlines, anyway when they turn to waitlists).

My son was accepted last night into MechE after being deferred last month. Yay!

yes, my kid was deferred and still waiting to hearā¦
