SUNY at Binghamton Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Yes my daughter was deferred too and we’re still waiting.

Yep, still waiting over here :frowning:

Same…deferred in December for nursing. Still waiting. Not having much hope at this point.

Ok so not just us

Hi All,
My daughter is currently deferred for nursing. I have a son who will be a Fall 2026 admit. He is torn between engineering (civil or mechanical) and business. He is taking engineering and business electives to figure it out. I don’t know much about these programs at Binghamton, but I don’t think they have a civil specific degree.
Would anyone have any feedback which is more competitive to get into - business vs engineering? Everything seems hard to get into at Bing:) I was just curious if anyone had any feedback on these programs. Thanks!

I was curious about it too. It would be great to hear reviews (other than what is on the website).

As a FYI when my D24 first applied she wanted the School of Business but was accepted to Harpur. (She would do economics). Yesterday one of the admissions officers called her and let her know they were now accepting her into the Business School and updated her portal. Even though we had a meh tour in January she now wants to look at it with new eyes knowing she can major in marketing now (and realizing that her tour guide probably had a bigger impact on her opinion than it should have).

So here we are again! Is it May 1st yet???

Congrats that’s great news. We just did the admitted students tour last weekend and it was very light on SOM so that was disappointing considering he’s looking at other schools that have strong business programs. Thinking about a 1:1 session with an existing student.

Wasn’t clear at all from the tour how SOM fits into the campus (vs health, science and engineering which all have their own sections of campus).

I have to agree with you. When we went on our tour I don’t think we even saw SOM. We did go through the school of Engineering tho. Hoping that accepted students day has more info. Would be great to see additional dorms also. Maybe warmer weather will help too. It was bitter cold the day we went in January!

S24 was deferred and has been waiting for an answer. However, he just got accepted to one of his top choices and the finances work😁. He also has two other acceptances where he would be very happy.

He decided to withdraw his application from Bing so that if he was still in the running, they can give the spot to someone else. Hope they give it to the kid of a waiting CC parent asap🙏🏼.

Best wishes to all the 24’s!

Let me tell ya - a tour looks a whole lot different to your kid when they are in the program they want, have a good tour guide, and the campus is bustling with students. I have one happy D24 who will officially be a Bearcat - Marketing and Environmental Studies! Last time we went it was move in day for Spring semester, so she didn’t realize how dead it as in comparison to a usual day. Today she was able to see the community in full swing and it felt totally different. If it were more urban with an old stone building somewhere it would literally be perfect - lol!

So a good ending to our very unexpected roller coaster ride through Bing Admissions.

Oh - and for anyone still waiting, the admissions counselor said that decisions would go out through April 1st.

Hi, my son got deferred EA and is now waiting in RD. Is SOM very hard to get into ? Also his friend was denied last week after being deferred. Hoping he finds out soon ! Do you think he will definitely hear back this week as there seems to be no set date.

Think def has to be by May 1 as that’s when other schools need to have deposits if accepting

SOM does have a lower acceptance rate than the overall acceptance rate. However, he could be offered Harpur if not accepted at SOM. At our tour it definitely sounded like you would hear by April 1st. Fingers crossed for you!!!

Same here. Waitlisted for fall and admitted for spring.

My son was also waitlisted for fall and admitted for spring. I recognize this might not be doable financially and/or desirable for everyone, but there are so many great gap semester programs out there, many of which also offer college credit. I was actually excited for the spring admit as I think it could be a really good opportunity to take advantage of those kinds of programs, and still end up at a great institution. We are looking at one in India/Nepal and another in South Africa. Most of these programs have financial aid for those that need it.

Our son was waitlisted for SOM. 97 GPA and 1380 SAT. We are in-state. Was accepted into Ohio State’s business program so go figure. I’d be curious to know the acceptance rate for SOM compared to the overall rate.
