Son accepted EA today. business admin in marketing. Applied late October during free application week.
Received acceptance last night
Congrats!
Could you share any details? (In state or OOS? Which major? Any stats? Did they say anything about scholarships?) Thank you!
Instate Pharm D.
Average GPA, super high SAT
No scholarship notification
Congratulations!
S24 was accepted EA as well, got it late Thursday evening! This started out as his #1 and has continued to stay in the top 3 so this was pretty exciting. No scholarships mentioned here either.
English major (he noted interested in their 5 year Masters in Library Science on the application).
GPA is 93.88 UW, school doesn’t rank, applied TO.
My son was also accepted as well. We are in state and his major is Business. 97 weighted GPA and 1380 SAT score. No mention about scholarships or Honors College. His school doesn’t do class rank. He also just got accepted at Ohio State on Friday.
My son is waiting to hear from UB. He applied 10/16 and included honors. Mechanical engineering, 1440 SAT, 95% average, NHS, good extracurriculars, awards, etc.
He was really hoping to hear by the holidays!! It feels like everyone else at his school has heard. I’m guessing (hoping) he is on the bubble for honors and we need some kids who already committed ED to withdraw from UB?
I thought I had mentioned my son’s decision here, but I guess I missed posting it.
Applied to Industrial Engineering around October 27, got decision December 13. Admitted (doesn’t say to engineering, but I assume so since that is what he applied for), and admitted to the Honors College. No mention of any scholarship.
Out of state (MA), homeschooled, 1500 SAT (750/750), 3.91 UW GPA, 4 APs (3 jr year, 1 sr), 9 Dual enrollment classes (all sr). Pretty basic ECs – job, games club, church volunteering and youth group leadership.
He definitely needs a scholarship for SUNY Buffalo to be a possibility, so we are waiting to hear about that.
My son was accepted to the University Honors College, so he is very excited! Good luck to everyone!
Anyone else still waiting on an EA decision? My son submitted his application on Nov 15 and we were expecting a response by Jan 1… Based on this doc https://www.suny.edu/sunypp/documents.cfm?doc_id=343 (that I now see was effective as of 1990 so it might be a little outdated!).
Hi. Did you apply to the honors college? My son’s decision took longer than his peers that did not apply. He applied 10/16/23 and heard 1/9/24.
My son sent in a letter of continued interest with his first quarter grades and updated awards. He got a somewhat generic response, but he did get a decision a week later. I can’t say that it definitely helped, but it didn’t hurt, either?
Thanks for the insight. He did not apply to the honors college. Thanks for the tip on the letter of continued interest and updated grades.
Received Pride of New York Scholarship today. Does it mean that there is no more chance for Presidential Scholarship?
The deadline for the presidential scholarship applications is February 1, and the email my son got said students who advance to the next step would be notified by mid February.
Honestly, I didn’t realize there was a separate application required for it.
How much $ are people seeing for the Pride of New York Scholarship? We were offered $3K annually/$12K for 4 years, but another family member has been getting $5K annually /$20K for 4 years.
From this, I’m guessing UB scales the value in some way. What are other people seeing in terms of amounts?
My daughter also received $3K annually per year for 4 years.
My daughter got $5K per year for a total of $20K
My son received $3.5K, total of $14K.
We were not expecting anything with us being instate, so this was very exciting.
I’m just wondering do we still have a chance of being considered for the presidential scholarship.
I want double or triple-dip.
My son finally got an acceptance into SEAS (Mech E) yesterday. According to his HS advisor, they were most likely waiting on his senior year 1st semester grades (honor roll!) as he had a rocky freshman/sophomore years.
I’m a super proud dad as I’m also a UB SEAS (Mech E) alum! Not sure if he’ll wind up attending, but I’ll be pulling for him!
