i’m an international student. I will come US for my Master degree in Electrical Engineering.
I got admission from both SUNY Buffalo and Syracuse University.

I know that U at Buffalo is cheaper than Syracuse U,
however, engineering in SU and SUNY buffalo, which is better?

Thanks indeed!

According to the U.S. News and World Report’s college rankings, the University at Buffalo has a better graduate engineering program.

[Search - Best Engineering Schools - Graduate Schools - Education - US News and World Report](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/grad/eng/search)

thank you for your reply!
i have saw the usnews and knew the rankings.
However, we can’t just evaluate a college by rankings, there are many other things.
Would you tell me anything else, such as the condition of finding job after graduate and the university reputation in industrial world?

thanks again for your reply

mmmmm… what would you like to know about both these schools?
if its academics, i cant help you because i have no clue about their engineering programs, but if it’s something else maybe i can help to give you an answer.

thank you~
i want to know:

is it easy to find a job after finishing my MS degree in SUNY Buffalo?

2, If i graduate from Syracuse U which is a top50 university in US, does this means i could find better job more easily?

3, i know that SUNY Buffalo is in tier2 in usnews ranking, however, in real world, how do you think about SUNY Buffalo? Is it a good and selective school in most of American people’s mind?

i’d reccomend doing an internship or two at either school that you attend- it makes you MUCH more marketable. and i know people that just graduated from UB’s engineering program that are now making $60,000. syracuse is better for athletics and the basketball games are a lot of fun. with ub, the athletics aren’t as good, but the games are still a lot of fun to go to-- like their football team won the MAC conference this year and their stadium holds 30,000 people. if you are into the partying scene, you will find that both schools have a “lively” (for a lack of a better word) bunch of kids who know how to have a good time. the food and dorms (to my knowledge) aren’t too great at either of the schools. although at ub’s north campus’ ellicott complex, is where a lot of freshman live and it is a lot of fun. syracuse has less students, and ub has technically three campuses. as for academics, they aren’t too different, look at some of the other posts if you have unanswered questions-- i know this isn’t the first syracuse vs. su post… cost is also a factor… and 1. yes, as long as you are pro-active and do well during your years at ub 2. maybe, not guaranteed 3. yes

thank you very much!! i think i have found my answer…

SO, which is your choice? i am interested to know… !!!

i will choose SUNY Buffalo
And thank you again for all you assistance.

YAY!!!
see you there hahaha!!!

oh-- make sure to apply for housing as soon as possible- i just applied and have a feeling ill be on south because i applied so late…

haha…see you in buffalo!!
i heard that Off-campus housing is an economical option, so i will find a off-campus house and enjoy my new life in buffalo…

HELL YEAHHH!! lol- plus its a lot cheaper so you save a ton of money!!

Geez I hope you aren’t right about waiting to so long to send in the housing deposit and getting stuck on South. I’m making a tough decision between a few places.

you can send in your deposits and as long as you withdraw from the school before may 1st youll get your money back
