Super Bowl Food/Snacks 2019

That’s pretty clever, especially the guacamole as football field.

Wings are a must, but other than that we are having a hard time deciding what to serve this year. My nachos never come out good - what cheese is best to use? I think that’s where I go wrong.

@Marilyn, OMG. I won’t be doing it, but it looks amazing.

We will have a dessert treat while watching the game. No party.

Queso Chihuahua for nachos if you like a mild cheese. As a Badger I like sharp cheddar on anything. I usually mix those two with Añejo cheese.

@taverngirl - agree with you about nachos and they get soggy after a while. I prefer to put out the tortilla chips with separate bowls of guac, salsa and queso. Also doing wings and calzone

Hmm- chili in so many states. Only Texas does not do a real chili- it ALWAYS has beans. Never heard of it as a football food in Wisconsin. Perhaps made the list as an easy hot dish to have on hand in cold weather. Most foods will be ready made purchased items for snacking.

Big plan- watch the commercials, perhaps halftime show parts.

If anyone is looking for a quick, easy, fun but good Super Bowl treat and you belong to Costco we tried the chicken street tacos last night and they were very good. It’s a long rectangular package in the Costco prepared food (grab and go) section. The package runs $15-$17ish dollars. Includes corn tortillas, seasoned cooked chicken, shredded cheese and lettuce (cabbage?), salsa , lime slices and a delicious cilantro creme. Enough for 4 people especially if you have other items with it.

RIght now my menu is looking like this - I’m calling it my “Super Bowl Half Time” menu cause I don’t have much interest in the game but I do enjoy Maroon 5…

Oven baked chicken wings (plain for H, HOT for me!)
Breaded white cheddar cheese curds (via Costco, in salute to our team, the Packers!)
Brussel sprout chips/dip as noted above somewhere
Fruit - I’m into sliced citrus lately

Maybe I’ll make a little dessert - I have tons of blueberries so maybe a cobbler or something.

Ok, I just got a request to bring these, a recipe I think I got from CC many moons ago:

We don’t eat meat, but were hosting a football party of some type and needed to feed a host of carnivores. I made this recipe but clearly didn’t make enough. It was gone almost as soon as I put it out. Anyway, it’s very easy, so I’m off to get some chicken and bacon.

BBQ Meatballs, Buffalo Chicken Dip, Jalapeño Poppers, Soft Pretzels with Beer Cheese Dip, Loaded Potato Skins, Chocolate Toffee Squares. Usually more interested in commercials than in the game, but this year a graduate of sons’ high school is playing on one of the teams, so we will root for his team.

Jalapeño Poppers! Heart attack waiting to happen, but one of my favorites! Yum! (drool) Off to get more jalapeños. Thanks, @gclsports. (must.stop.reading.this.thread)

Super Bowl Sunday is one of those days when you don’t want to be bothered with healthy food: turkey meatballs in cranberry-orange-soy sauce and cornbread/collard green stuffing balls. Home canned peaches for dessert, or maybe peach crisp if I’m feeling feisty.

Well the NYT chicken wing recipe I made was fantastic. I will be craving these often. I like that they got crispy without frying

I got avocados from Aldi’s for 49 cents each. Guess I am going to be having avocado toast all week. Need to look up some recipes to use them.

Baked avocados with an egg in it is YUM.

The game is over, but I must hear more about cornbread collard green stuffing balls…

We had typical football food for lunch (wings, guac and chips) but had Chinese food for game time. Combining the high holy day (Superbowl) with Chinese New Year. It was great.
