Super Bowl

The bald eagle in our tree was a prophet. B-)

Ewww… kissing that trophy? Both Mr. and I said in unison, “Flu or herpes simplex, anyone?”

Maybe they wipe down the trophy with alcohol or similar beforehand. Who knows?

Hooray Eagles!, and hooray for the Purple Heart vetrans that participated in flipping the coin. Hooray for the militaryhg pilots that flew their planes over the stadium.

To bring this back to a college topic–hurrah that I got to root for a Michigan player to make the big play and it wasn’t Brady!

I think Brady’s jersey is safe this year.

@BunsenBurner My thoughts exactly!! So many hands touching it. Then all those people kissing it! Hello, this flu season is a strong one.

I just hope that Philly doesn’t follow suit from other cities and the celebrations turn destructive. I’ve never understood why people who are happy destroy their lemony city.

MSU made a shiny appearance out there, too.
Granted, he only appeared in one game, but we can claim Noles too :stuck_out_tongue:

Gotta give a standing applause to my Mr. the football “non-fan” When we turned on the TV this afternoon, he asked, “So, who is playing?” When I told him, he said, “I like birds. I am going to root for that eagle team.” LOL.

Cheese and wine starts about now.

My never-ever-ever watches sports best friend on that toss pass (last play? close to last play?) screamed at the TV: “Ok even I know that was a bad idea!”

Local coverage will run until at least midnight so no “This Is Us” at our house tonight. Not a problem!

Former Gov Ed Rendell is live from Minneapolis in his cool throwback Eagles jacket with Comcast SportsNet.
Brian Dawkins, who got voted into the HOF yesterday, is being interviewed right now. Lots of aerial shots of Broad Street from the stadiums north to City Hall packed with fans. So exciting!

Dang.

Props to the Eagles though, they played a better game.

Did you guys catch this SNL skit last night?

It was in the cards. The Old Testament reading for today from the common lectionary (three year cycle that Catholic and mainstream Protestant churches use) spoke of rising up like Eagles.

Nick Foles, who is taking seminary courses to become a pastor, was probably encouraged!

what a great game! So excited for Philadelphia! Everyone walked up to Broad Street to celebrate. (I hate crowds;) Kids have a late start tomorrow for school. It is my husbands birthday today and he is just thrilled:))

I’m surprised at how close the game was. I thought the Patriots were a sure winner.

Could not be happier to be wrong.

Congrats to all the Eagles fans! As a die hard Patriots fan and one that has had my other teams win plentiful over the years, I can’t imagine how that 99 year old Eagles fan felt.

Brady will be back. (Amazing as he will be 41.) Patriots will reload. Is it football season yet?

So far so good in philly! Let’s be safe out there. The SNL skit was a classic!

My uncle has been an eagle fan all his life. He turns 101 this April and we talked to him earlier tonight - I’m so thrilled he got to see this victory.
