There was an NFL this year?
- signed, a San Diegan (but former Chicagoan)
There was an NFL this year?
Packers fan: There was an NFL season this year???
Giants fan: Hold my beer.
Also, this Wolverine detests Brady and he is in no way a reason for me to root for the Patriots.
Heck, I’ll even root for the Eagles against them if it comes to that.
( side note: as a Michigander who lives in Ohio and is NOT a Buckeye in any way, shape, form I love the # of Michigan fans here!!! (second side note: or MSU or Lions!) )
Carry on!!!
What, no love for the Jaguars? We bought a house up in that area that we will be moving into one of these days, so we have to find a new hometown team to root for. Lord knows the Dolphins have been hopeless… L-)
Lifelong Eagles fan and hoping for the best for them.
But if the Vikings take the Eagles out on Sunday, I will root for MN. What a finish last night! Loved see Keenum running around the field like an excited kid who couldn’t believe they’d pulled it out.

2nd what @garland said about Brady & Wolverines.
“What, no love for the Jaguars?”
Jags all the way!
Why do people hate Tom Brady? Even before the inflated football thing, people hated him. He doesn’t beat his wife, he hasn’t murdered anyone (like Aaron Hernandez), doesn’t appear to do drugs, and works hard at his craft and staying strong and healthy. I don’t agree with his politics but he’s a great quarterback and wins.
I don’t really care about football. People can’t believe I went to the University of Michigan and never went to a football game (it was the 70s–Vietnam War, SDS, and all that). My H is a Pats fan and his lawyers invite us to a game or two every season. H will take one of our kids or a friend because I’m not interested.
Flame away . . . .
I have been rooting for Vikings, Eagles, and Patriots. It will be hard for me in the next 2 weeks.
I believe you, @Bromfield2. I stepped into The Big House one time freshman year and turned around and sold my tickets the remaining four years. I don’t do crowds. Our son is at Army and Army is scheduled to play Michigan in The Big House next year (his grad year). DH says I HAVE to go. ![]()
^I went to all the blowout games and sold the OSU, MSU, and ND tickets. Kept me in spending money each fall.
How cool would it be for the Vikings to play in the Super Bowl in their beautiful new stadium? I hadn’t thought about the economic side, @Nrdsb4.
@“Youdon’tsay”, I was fortunate to meet Bud Grant through one of his grandchildren. He is a class act.
I am going to cheer for the Vikings. Skol! http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/videos/Keenum-Leads-The-Crowd-In-Skol-Chant-After-Diggs-TD/a4c7ade5-c8c7-4db0-8f22-86f72519eb9a
I grew up in East Lansing and went to college in A2 so have always been a Big 10 football fan. I lived close to the stadium in college and went to all the games. Back in EL, we could hear the stadium cheers from our house. The U of M team had their training meals in my dorm so a lot of players lived in the dorm and I got to know a few of them (like in the lounge on Sunday nights). They were pretty nice guys overall. Glenn Doughty taught me the Funky Chicken dance at a party, and Paul Staroba asked me to take notes for him in one class (I think he asked a girl in every class to do the same).
Anyway, many years have passed and what fervor I ever had has mellowed to just a slightly nostalgic feeling when I hear the fight songs. I don’t pay a lot of attention unless either MSU or UM is in a bowl game, then I just think it’s nice if they win but no big deal if they don’t. About 10 years ago, an old friend of DH called late on a Saturday afternoon when DH was back east visiting his parents. “Marilyn,” he said, “I’m so sorry.” I instantly thought, who died? Does DH know? Then I realized that this guy, a rabid, and I mean RABID, OSU graduate was calling to “commiserate” about OSU’s victory over U-M that day. Sigh. Didn’t even know they were playing!
So the fact that some current QB or other player went to my alma mater decades after I did is really not a deciding factor! And now I don’t even have to be bombarded with the Chargers. After 40 years of living with the Bears/Bulls/Blackhawks/Cubs/Sox, it’s kind of refreshing!
Another Michigan grad who doesn’t like Brady. For one, he is a cheater. And he keeps “questionable company.” I’m all in for the Vikings after many years living in MN. Skol!
Won’t argue over cheater—that’s been done. What questionable company?? Who? What am I missing. Sorry to be so dense.
I’m rooting for Patriots. WIthout any hesitations. As someone that watched them in the 70’s, I still feel like karma owes me a few more Super Bowls
Until I moved and met more than a few Michigan State alums, I was unaware that they was great dislike for the university of Michigan. Most MSU alums I’ve met, do not like Tom Brady and would not root for him.
I went to a directional school and my husband went to Michigan Tech. He was always a UM fan first but rooted for the big ten after. So I must admit to not getting the vitriol of rival schools.
We live in Philadelphia, so it’s Eagles all of the way! And never Patriots. Never.
