Super Bowl

@Bromfield2 I can’t discuss his “questionable company” without straying into the political. Sorry.

Glad to see a little Eagles love here. I think part of the dislike of the Patriots is they have won some Superbowls, unlike, say, the Eagles

Brady and the Pats have the whole Spygate controversy in addition to Deflategate.

Tom Brady’s partnership with the controversial Alex Guerrero is creating a rift in the organization. He is certainly questionable company. There are others as well.

I strongly suspect that if you were to study the list of friends of stars on any professional football team, you are going to find that every team has players with friends that you (and I) strongly dislike, and any team has star players whose political views don’t agree with yours or mine. I also ignore political endorsements by athletes, musicians, actors, and other famous people.

However, I have to appreciate athletic skill when I am watching athletic events.

To me, Bill Belichick is the greatest ever. Brady is just a very good quarterback who has had the good luck to spend his entire career working for Belichick and also the good luck to stay healthy so long. I have to admire how Belichick brings in a wide range of players scrapped together from any possible source and cobbles together a team that keeps winning.

“I have to admire how Belichick brings in a wide range of players scrapped together from any possible source and cobbles together a team that keeps winning.”

Even when they cheat. (and I’m a New Englander).

You have to give Brady a lot of credit too. They are a great partnership.

I know there will be many who will not agree with me, but I feel like you would be hard pressed to find a better role model in sports than Tom Brady.

Success brings out haters.

Patriots know the rules, practice the hard situations, do not fool around. Belichick doesn’t allow any crap and suspends even the starters when they break the rules (Tom doesn’t break the rules - he was 7 hours (7 HOURS) early for the game on Sat). When Malcom Butler jump the route and won the Superbowl for the Patriots 2 years ago, turns out it wasn’t luck but that they practiced that play hundreds of times. The Patriots don’t have 12 men on the field but Brady knows how to make other teams pay the price when they do. So does Aaron Rogers.

I’m not sure I agree that Brady is the GOAT, but Belichick is the greatest coach of this era for sure.

The sports reporters are giving a lot of credit to Tom Coughlin for the turnaround of the Jags. Lots of discipline changes. Suspended Fournette this year when his attitude needed adjustment.

Grabbing some popcorn…

Oh, c’mon. I went to Michigan. Used to root for him. HIs own behavior has brought him down in the eyes of many.

And as far as being the GOAT – hey, they used to say that about Lance Armstrong, too. Til it came out that he was a cheater (too).

Re: The Patriots.

I don’t know, maybe it was that whole “destroying your cell phone/replacing the Samsung with an iPhone,” coincidentally around the time of investigation. Seems kinda suspicious to me. I threw my phone away, er, destroyed my phone, because it broke right round the time of the investigation? 8-}

And the ball boy was called “The Deflator” because of his weight loss. The ball boy is called “The Deflator” because he lost weight? 8-|

And then Robert Kraft cannot speak coherently immediately following one of those playoff games last year, I can’t remember which playoff game, but it might have been the AFC Championship game.

And Belichick has been fined $50,000 a couple times for illegal contact with a ref.

However, I hate the Patriots less these days, because those dingdongs traded Jimmy G. to the 49ers. <:-P

Role model? A liar and a cheater? Brady has a long history of being a jerk.

Name one superstar quarterback that you don’t think was a jerk when he was 25 and making millions of dollars per year.

I am a big fan of the Alabama football program. If I find out they have been cheating, I will stop being a fan. I was once a big fan of Lance Armstrong and Jon Jones.

So go, anyone except the Cheatriots. In reality, I lost interest after the Vikings snuck a sleeper cell into Seatlle that goes by the name “Blair Walsh” to undermine our season and it became a playoff between a bunch of east coast teams.

To name a few, Drew Brees, Kurt Warner, Troy Aikman, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, John Elway…

And even at 40, Brady still hasn’t mellowed.

Let me add, Eli.

And no, Patriots fan, you are not owed for past droughts. Plenty of teams in all sports have gone far longer.

Though, as a Giants fan (still!), it doesn’t seem THAT hard to beat the Patriots in the Superbowl.

Oh, I should have added…And do you know why the Patriots no longer have a successor to Brady, since they traded away both Jacoby Brissett and Jimmy Garoppolo? Because Kraft sided with Brady and ran them out of town, against Belichick’s wishes.

All three of them (Kraft, Brady, and Belichick) have denied that story.

Most of those guys were married at 25. Elway had an affair in later years. Not expecting them to be perfect, but not expecting Tom to be either.

Brady hasn’t mellowed for what? The man has 3 kids, is considered to be a great father even by Bridget, his ex. Hardly drinks, doesn’t even eat pizza. What does he have to do to mellow?

@DadTwoGirls , TB isn’t just lucky. He has maintained his fitness by having a very countercultural (well, for football players, anyway) health regimen, including yoga, and a punishing, austere diet. The yoga probably helps a great deal with flexibility and stamina.
