Super Bowl

It was a pretty family-friendly event, despite the cold and the cursing. My daughter teaches at middle school in a close-in suburb. Over half the students were out yesterday with their families at the parade. I think this attendance was pretty typical in the area yesterday. A number of schools decided not to fight it and were closed.

All of the city schools were closed. Our friends in the suburbs had their school closed and they all came in for the day. The City closed all non essential departments. There were loads of people out with their families. The cursing did not bother me at all. Pretty sure my kids hear people curse in their daily lives, including school friends. But that is, of course, just my personal opinion.

Of course he should have. But everyone else was so buttoned-down and on-message and anodyne, it was fun to get a glimpse of a real flesh-and-bone person, full of all kinds of resentments and joys. Plus, for someone who is arguably one of the best ever at his position, Jason Kelce has had a very low profile. Until yesterday.

Anyone who brings their young children to a Super Bowl parade with a million or more passionate football fans has to know the kiddos are going to hear an F-bomb- and probably many - throughout the day. Even if they didn’t hear it on the crowded train, standing shoulder to shoulder with imbibing fans, or from the podium - they surely would have heard it from their parents while waiting outside in the very long lines to catch the trains going home! :))

While I understand that some might not be happy about the expletives, I also don’t have an issue with it - I loved that #$&*! speech!!

I never understood the uptightness around words that are deemed to be profanity especially when not used in a hateful way. It’s just letters/sounds strung together just like any other word.

The Eagles ran a fake Super Bowl “walkthrough” practice, just in case the Patriots were watching. This is genius, because of the Patriots history and penchant for cheating. ^:)^
