I have a question. When GZ did the walk-around with the detectives describing the incident, was he aware at that time that there was a 911 call that had recorded the screams? During the walk-around he describes yelling for help - so he was either actually yelling for help or was aware of the recording already. Just not sure of the timing of the walk-around and when he first heard the 911 call.

^ On his web site he states he was yelling for help “countless times and receiving no help …” But George being George, it’s plausible that he simply embellished on what may have actually occurred. In his mind, he may have interpreted screams as calls for help. This would be consistent with his other statements (e.g., “the altercation occurred at the T, or maybe further down the sidewalk … no wait, the body and shell casing weren’t found in either place, so I guess the altercation must have occurred in that grassy area.”) Suffice to say that GZ is fuzzy with the details of that episode.

Can someone who believes it was GZ screaming explain to me why the screaming was continuous rather than stop-and-start as the “blows rained down” on him? The sustained pleading doesn’t add up for me as coming from someone “feeling threatened” by a fist being held over his face. (Oh, and didn’t GZ also say TM held his hand over his mouth?)

^^^
Was it continuous? On the tape it sounds like three or four screams punctuated by brief perids of silence. Either way, I personally don’t see all these little details as big inconsistencies.

You can squirm a little and get your mouth free and sream and have it covered again. You can start and stop screaming while you are being punched and the puncher can also stop and take short breaks. Often things happen in very random and unexpected ways and sequences.

Newhope, do you have a theory as to why TM would have been yelling/screaming? He’s not alive to tell his side but I’m curious as to what the theory might be.

For the life of me, I can’t understand how a private citizen can go out armed with a deadly weapon for the purpose of “patrolling” his neighborhood, stalk another private citizen who is minding his own business, and if the victim eventually confronts him and he feels fear in that moment, he is innocent of murder and acting in “self defense”? This is insane. It just is. At the very least, he MUST be guilty of manslaughter.

^^ My theory is that only two guys have the answer to that question … one is dead, and the other one isn’t talking. I don’t think it really matters who was screaming.

“parade of liars” LOL. calmom–is it your experience that it is difficult to get witnesses to honestly answer questions under oath in depositions and on the stand with “I don’t know”, “I don’t remember” and “I’m not sure”

Part of most legitimate preps contain the admonition that these are perfectly acceptable answers and do not make the witness look “dumb.” Seriously, people do not like to look like the can’t remember or cannot recall facts and details.

BTW–here in Texas (2nd only to Florida in the number of concealed carry permits), I have asked several females of about the age of the oldest jurors what is their take on this case. The one that carries on her power walks in the neighborhood (my next door neighbor) said that she sees reasonable doubt.

Another who had her garage broken into by a teen group, said she wished more residents in her area would “get involved.”

The third admitted that seeing a male teen at night and walking in her residential area that she did not recognize would make her a bit nervous. She went on to say that at the nearby shopping mall there had been a series of car break-ins and purse snatching that had hurt the women in the parking areas and that once she had followed one “young” guy in her car to see what he was up to before she parked. She said she “lost” him and then went to park under a light to go inside and report the activity. She said as she got out of the car the guy appeared in the row behind her. She said it freaked her out and that if she had a gun and he’d come any closer she might have shot him.

I don’t think all females are of the same mind on any of this.

^ Re: # 346 - I was pointing out that if GZ was shouting “Help me, help me” as he has claimed, then he likely wasn’t the guy screaming. Since it was just GZ and TM there, if GZ wasn’t screaming then it must have been TM. I don’t really know who was screaming, and other than GZ I don’t believe there’s another living being that does.

^^^^
Exactly. And if George Zimmerman hadn’t been carrying a gun, would he have felt as compelled to follow and confront TM? Would he have called the police and then stayed in his car as they suggested? I’m guessing he might have and nobody would have ended up dead.

Actually, I have been in a situation where there was a head light out on a car that I felt almost hit me in a parking garage. The driver was female and looked startled at how close she had come to me. I waited in the lighted area while she parked. When she got out I called out from a distance “Mam, your driver’s side headlight is out, just thought you might want to know.”

I do not approach anyone without first calling their attention to my presence. I prefer not to get shot.

EPRT–but GZ was lawfully carrying a gun in a State that allows it. This is not some imaginary world, it is Florida with the most concealed carry licenses of any state. I don’t own a gun but I know that others do and that they could be armed. So, I act accordingly.
