I think I’m more excited for the Grammy’s next weekend then the Superbowl this weekend…but I’m an American so gotta get geared up!

I currently have no thoughts in mind of food to create. Won’t be watching much of the game, but will watch the National Anthem, commercials and half time show. So yeah, food is still necessary. :)

Inspire me by sharing what’s on your menu. :)

Big Superbowl 49er Party at my house!
I am doing assorted sausages and dogs on the grill for halftime with all the fixings…my friend is bringing homemade chili to go on top!
I was inspired by the fab gigantic nachos on the Today show, so there will be a big tray of those with carnitas! One guest is bringing brownies and homemade vanilla ice cream for the 4th quarter chaser. I am letting others guests bring whatever they want, and they are all excellent cooks so the appetizers should be great!
And of course a big display of fresh veggies to justify all the other bad stuff!
Contemplating making a pitcher of Hurricanes to drink…very New Orleans.

Just my thing, but I like to do food themed to the cities competing in the Super Bowl. My ideal this year would be San Francisco-style cioppino v. Maryland crabcakes, but one member of our household is allergic to shellfish so I’m just going with a SF Chinatown theme, cooking up several of our favorite Chinese recipes. Baltimore can fend for itself. Not sure what would be Baltimore-specific anyway, apart from shellfish.

I was thinking crab cakes too and sourdough bread, but now I realize my H will be out of town. Maybe I’ll watch a good movie instead. I’m on the BRAT diet, so I couldn’t eat crab cakes anyway.

I made a great New Orleans menu when the Saints played. Everybody loved it.

I’ve recently discovered a new chili mix that’s met with rave reviews among my family and friends.

Anybody making chili for the Super Bowl, you can’t go wrong with this mix…Carroll Shelby’s Chili Kit…Mix the seasoning with 2 lbs ground beef add beans (or not!), onions, etc. It’s easy to tweak to suit your own taste. The directions on the box make it uber easy…I’ve tried a few of these spice packets/mixes over the years and this one’s the best! —Small tan box w/red accents. (Box indicates it’s distributed by Reily Foods Company, NOLA)

I will make Italian sausage & pepper sandwiches made with veggie Italian sausages, lemon pepper coleslaw, pasta salad. I am getting hungry just thinking about it.

Well what do you know. I took a chance and typed the name into my Wegman’s app and evidentially it’s on aisle 14B, score!! Thanks masslou. I’ve been using the same chili seasoning for over 20yrs (with a few attempts to change but always coming back to the original) so let’s hope the natives don’t reject a change, lol. I think I make pretty good chili, but am always willing to mix it up and try something different.

Having a birthday celebration during the shebang this year, so have to do something special. The sausage and peppers sound good. Have figure out what else to add. I’m just not feeling it for some reason.

I’m home alone Sunday, so I’m having a bowl of popcorn if I even have the game on :-). One aspect of being in the middle of the country is I don’t have allegiance to either coast…so I’m cheering for the Harbaugh parents! If the kids were here I’d make hot Buffalo Wing Dip which is quite yummy. Dump it all in a crock pot and stir til combined. you can eliminate the cheddar, but my family likes it in the dip. Good for those Scoops type things.

4 chicken breasts cooked and shredded
1 bottle blue cheese dressing
1 bottle ranch dressing
1 package cream cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar
1 small (or large if you like spicy) bottle Frank’s hot sauce
