Superbowl Snacks and Favorites

The Rueben bites look delicious. I bet I could make them with some puff pastry or phyllo dough I need to use up in the freezer.

Doesn’t matter to me who wins - I just want a good game. Just a couple of friends coming over this year (my 88 year old dad blew us off - lol).

Working with friend on food, but one thing I am going to try is a jalapeno popper dip recipe I saw.

The commercials used to be the highlight - is it me or are they just not a good the last couple of years? (And, in general, I am tired of seeing celebrities in them.)

The singing of the national anthem was big for my 87 year old neighbor - she hated when people stylized it too much. She just wants a traditional version.

Yes I think that would be just as good! Just be sure to dry everything as much as possible so it doesn’t make the pastry soggy.

We don’t celebrate the superb owl but I am interested in the food! Some of y’all’s recipes look good.

I would root (barely) for the Seahawks, but as a UNC alum and fan I am also a big Drake Maye fan and a hater of Belichick so I will I guess be rooting for Drake to have a good game and to show up Belichick. Really wish Mack Brown (who coached Drake at UNC) was still UNC’s coach.

Jambalaya sounds good. And that baked potato soup looks great. I do have some good avocados and make good guac so that might be on the menu. Who knows what I will come up with!?

This is my recipe. Don’t be put off by the “skinny” in the title - it’s really yummy and always a hit.

Sweet /sour meatballs. Mini hotdogs like pigs in the blanket. Salad. Italian beef sandwiches. Chips and guacamole. Beer. Very meat heavy.

I’m excited to host guests who are driving through to Florida.

I’m making Sourdough Discard Soft Pretzels, a hot baked cheese dips from scrap cheeses, and butternut squash soup topped with pepitas. I’ll also bake a loaf of Irish Soda Bread (with raisins and caraway seeds) for breakfast on Monday. Perhaps they’ll take some for the road.

H decided to do a tri tip in the sous vide, so I guess we’ll be having sandwiches of some sort. My sister has some shrimp and a cheese bread. Perhaps #2D will bring a dessert of some sort. We have plenty of wine and cider, and even some beer.
It will be a rest Seahawks win :blue_heart::green_heart:

That sounds like diabetic coma territory…but DELICIOUS. OMG.

I’d love the recipe, if you don’t mind sharing.

Rooting for your guys, Bunsen!

GO PATS! (MA Resident here).

Will be going to a neighbors house at least until halftime… I suspect it will be a pretty typical wings and various chips/dips/etc - nothing fancy, they’re not big “food” people.

This may sound weird, but I’ve never had wings in my life. I read that wings are the number one super bowl food purchase, so when I walked into Whole Foods and saw a big display, I bought one container of buffalo chicken wings, and one BBQ chicken wings.

It’s just H and I, but I cooked for all day snacking because I had the Olympics on all day, so I made guacamole (he loves mine, and now won’t eat store prepared haha), taco meat with homemade seasoning, and hard shells, soft tortillas, and all of the fixings. Nothing a mediocre cook could’nt make, but this kind of thing makes him so happy. When he comes home and smells dinner cooking, it triggers some kind of happy childhood memory (and he doesn’t have a lot of happy childhood memories). So when he came home today from the gym and a visit to his Mom’s, and he smelled wings and tacos and fixings, he was so happy, and that made me happy.

The wings were good I guess, but I don’t understand the love they get. But certainly fine!

And I hope the Seahawks win! And the US figure skating team!

Seahawks fan here too. Hope they win! We will just have a nice pasta dinner. We have plenty of snack food, but it’s just us.

Super easy peasy

This is such a cute story!! I think it also depends if you like crispy or saucy wings, breaded or not! I have a good crispy recipe that you bake the wings.

Same, we take wings, dry them as best we can, toss with baking soda, salt and garlic powder, bake or grill for up to an hour on 400, turn every 15 minutes, and then sauce, taste just as good as fried (still very high in fat and calories due to skin, fried aren’t much worse, but easier cleanup baked). I like buying Kirkland frozen wings due to size.

This is how I make them too. They’re very crispy!

They really are! I don’t think they’re any healthier, but they’re so good.

Made a boatload of food and had 7 adults and 4 kids here at the air bnb we are in. Was pleased that the little ones are a lot of fruit and fresh veggies (though also lots of chips and dip). I made both seasoned and unseasoned ingredients for the fajitas so the kids could avoid spice. Still have chicken and shrimp left over and a little bit of veggies (I left them in the warming oven for a long time and the got a little too soft, IMO, but got eaten). Picked up a fruit tart from a nearby bakery and it was demolished. I didn’t get to see much of the game. It was pretty chaotic here with all the grandkids.
