That’s great!! Thanks for sharing!

Mootmom, I read your post, and started to cry. How beautiful, and how can I possibly ever say thank you.

The Second Life class was through Harvard Extension, and it would have been my first college class ever. I wanted to understand how money laundering and fraud work in virtual worlds, and thought that a good first step would be to understand the chain of commerce in virtual worlds in the first place. Unfortunately, the first class meeting in Second Life was just a week after I was released from the hospital. I simply could not focus on the class given the shock of the diagnosis and all the related events, and so never got further than creating my avatar, and did not complete any of the coursework.

LTS, I know I speak for sluggbugg also when I tell you I’m so glad you approve.

I realize the timing was all wrong and you weren’t able to take the SL class. But let me add that all one needs to visit the garden is an avatar, a computer with the Second Life client installed, and a click on the “slurl” in the link above. If you ever feel like dropping by, just say the word and we can either meet you there or leave you to explore on your own.

(And we can take some more snapshots and expand the slideshow above: the little kinetic sculpture at one end of the garden is especially calming to watch as it changes colors and rotates, under the babble of the nearby waterfall. But that will be tough to capture in a still snapshot. )

It’ll still be there if you ever feel like visiting.

Gosh, that’s just lovely! What a nice place to be able to go to for a moment of calm.

How beautiful. Mootie, nice work. Say Hi to Slugg.

Those cherry trees are wonderful. LTS, I hope your avatar has that long blonde hair that’s inspiring my current shaggy locks on their way back to being long.

Lovely. So very kind and generous. It is obvious that great care was taken with every aspect of this project. My hat is off to you both. <3

Just a quick note to mention that I’ve added a bunch more snapshots around the garden to the slideshow, for those who won’t be able to visit in Second Life.

Hope it’s a good day for you, LTS, and for all of us.

Mootmom, thank you for that, I appreciate it so much…

This thread, this community and LTS are all amazing and inspiring. mootmom, you have given a place for our virtual community to congregate and I am not going to explore this medium so I can visit.

You’ve given a wonderful gift to all of us.

LTS: Ah, the garden your example has generated. How amazing. Sending you love today, but I’m glad we’re not together because I have a bit of the flu. Still looking for a way to post the Lui Collins song.

LTS: In your spare time, you might want to squeeze in some acting lessons.

The trees look so real in the “meditating on the bench among the trees” slide. This is a tremendous thing to do…for LTS and for all on the thread… full of grace… even the bunny from Goodnite Moon!

Mootmom, and Sluggbugg, I honestly cannot think of anything to say, but continue to be touched by your thoughtful creation. Tomorrow I have carved out some free time so I am going to go get my avatar and see if I can teleport…

LOL @ E. I don’t think so. I couldn’t act if my life depended on it.

Meanwhile, along those lines - two weeks ago I was asked out by one of D.C.'s finest. Lots of invites; I keep holding him off - one excuse after the next. I’m pretty good with excuses and he keeps calling and sending emails. He’s a mounted policeman and he invited me to go riding, and I really want to go. Thing is, I cannot figure out how to accept a date, and then bring up, oh, by the way, I have this cancer thing. And here are the numbers. Because it would be deceptive to say nothing. But a little weird also to throw it out there right away. (Also in daylight no way he’s not going to notice I am wearing a wig vs. real hair.) But also very self defeating to turn down dates.

Maybe there’s some guidance out there somewhere - if so, I haven’t been able to locate it yet…

Good grief, LTS! It’s a date. Go on the date ,have a great time and forget about your struggles for a few hours. Don’t plan it…just do it!

…easy for me to say.

^^^ right! And, if you decide on a second date, tell him then.

Just do it.

First date doesn’t mean commitment. The eloquent c.c. posters will help you find the words if/when the time comes to tell him.

LTS:

Go on the date, enjoy yourself. If it leads to something more, then may be the time to share more personal information. You have such zest for life, seize the day. Carpe diem (see the thread on Latin! :)).

LTS:
I agree - go on the date and have fun. If it starts to be more than a casual first or second or so date, then you can relate to him what you think he should know. By that time you’ll know enough about him to know the best way to tell him. A horseback ride sounds like fun though so - giddy-up!

Accept the date

Have fun on the date (I love horseback riding!)

Decide if there’s chemistry while on the date.

Tell him on date #2. :)

A lot of guys would NOT notice about a wig. My H is one of them. Not a visual kind of guy.

how about a response that hints… I could use a good night out as I have been feeling poorly lately!! Don’t want/need to talk about it…rather what I need is a night out not thinking about the past few weeks…

I definitely say GO for IT…it falls into the category of make every day the best you can…this guy sounds like fun and he is interested… all uphill…

LTS – accept the date. :)
