if all the people who were at dancewave dont mind me asking: what schools were your dancers auditioning for?
We hadn’t heard of Sacred Heart prior to Dancewave, but D was impressed with their showcase dance and may add them to her list- do you know just how religious/conservative they are on a scale from Loyola Marymount (with an atheist dean) to Liberty U?
hopefully her call went well- if you dont mind me asking what school was the call with? and what other schools did your D audition for this weekend?
yes my daughter applied to sacred heart as a backup plan in case all else fails with dance- but she loved everything she learned from sacred heart this past weekend- they have a very strong professional track company which is great for dancers wanting to major in something other than dance as well.
i don’t think they are very religious at all, we know plenty of people who have went there who are not religious. i would say somewhere in between the two.
My daughter is a freshman at George Mason. She LOVES it there!

Wayne State, Purchase, NYU, Pace and SMU
Accepted at Wayne and Purchase. It was a tough choice between Purchase and Mason. She likes that the program is smaller and that it’s a bigger college campus feel. She’s from a high school of over 5,000 so Purchase felt too small for her.

what did she not like about pace? thats on my daughters list.
She didn’t like the feel of the audition. Room was overcrowded and it was hard to dance. She also decided that she didn’t want to be in a commercial dance setting. No intention of offending anyone with dancers at Pace. It’s a great dance school. Each dancer has to find the right fit for them.
ok makes sense. yeah we’ve heard mixed reviews on pace and the talent they’re looking for. did your D attend dancewave?
No. We didn’t even know it existed until after it happened.

My D just received an acceptance email from scared heart… Also I email to apply from the studio school. Not sure if that means she was accepted?!? Has any one else received any feed back??
My D also received that same acceptance email from sacred heart to be party of their company. I think they have the company and the ensemble?
Not sure, but that definitely sounds like a good thing- i would ask them!
Sacred heart is the only email we’ve gotten so far- anxiously awaiting! My D auditioned this weekend for montclair, rutgers, adelphi, point park and uarts as well. how about yours?
My D got an email asking her to apply to The New School, which really isn’t on her radar.
My D applied to all those as well.
Only other thing we have gotten so far is a thank you for your interest email from ECU. It says when they receive the video from Dancewave they will be reviewing it with the faculty and contacting dancers that they would like to offer a scholarship.
oh wow i did not know dancewave was being videoed! do you know when they get the video? I guess maybe they’ve already gotten it since we got our SHU acceptance?
