Surely we’re not the only ones at Dancewave this weekend!

Yes went to my email so I’m not sure they looked at my d’s resume. D got email from Drexel urging her to complete her app and that she would hear soon. Was hoping to at least get some app waivers!

Did anyone attend the university of arizona audition? We went to the jazz showcase instead of dancewave. Sounds like dancewave was a great experience. My daughter loved Arizona! They said we could hear from them anytime between now and December! The good news is if not accepted they can audition again in January.

Well the meeting came and went, just without the meeting part. She definitely didn’t misunderstand the date or the time, but he just never contacted her, or answered when she attempted to contact him. She’s really bummed and feels she was strung along.

@milgymfam oh no! I’m so sorry that happened to her. She should def email and follow up tomorrow with the admissions staff and let them know what happened.

My D received an acceptance letter from George Mason today. She is very excited but really does not know much about the program or the school… Any one who knows please let me know!!

My daughter is a Freshman at GMU. It wasn’t on her radar until a friend from a summer program told her she should audition there. She loved the audition. She loves it there. Top notch training with only 20 dancers per year. A real college campus feel with great academics. I’m not sure where you are located but if you can go for a visit I would. They have their fall concert November 7,8,and 9th.

I guess my daughter wasn’t what Mason was looking for either. ?

My daughter got a letter from George Mason yesterday stating they didn’t have “enough time” to fully accept her, they stated she is on a “callback” list and invited her to come audition at a few different dates. She also got an email from ECU that stated they would be reviewing her audition video and would be in touch with scholarship and acceptance info. Seems like it is really up to each program on how they reach out/ or don’t.

That is awful and leaves a poor impression of the program, Im sorry!

Very helpful to hear! My daughter loves their program and we head to audition November 9th.

At least your D got a letter? We are in spitting distance from the school, so it’s safe to say they didn’t even bother to send my D a letter at all. Just the ghost rejection.

We just got the letter yesterday. So maybe it will come tomorrow? This process is awful. So many ups and downs.

@milgymfam This audition process is crazy and stressful and exciting all at the same time! Having gone through it with my daughter last year, with no dance knowledge myself, and living in rural Wisconsin I know how crazy it is. If I can give you a little advice this would be it: if you don’t get an answer from a college your daughter is interested in have her follow up directly with the school. My daughter had to email several schools and follow up on the Dancewave auditions. Some wouldn’t release decisions until she was accepted to the school (like Point Park and UArts) others didn’t send audition results etc (she didn’t get anything from George Mason until she e-mailed them). If she’s interested in a program and didn’t get accepted through Dancewave, just schedule an on site audition at the school! My daughter received a no from Purchase at Dancewave, went back to the school to audition and is loving her Freshman year there now ?.

@MomL98 she actually followed up the very next day with every college where she’d auditioned, and had also already applied for admission to the schools. I think that responses are the very base of handling things with respect- mason didn’t even respond to her email.

Ahh, this whole process is brutal. My dd’s approach is basically to move ahead as if Dancewave never happened. She got the same phone call from Ohio State (yay!) but radio silence from George Mason–where she is auditioning in person THIS WEEKEND (already planned). Her feeling is that Dancewave was a good experience and great audition practice, but not a full chance to show what she has to offer. It’s also encouraging to hear multiple stories of rejections at Dancewave that were followed by acceptances later!

In hindsight my daughter wondered if she would have done better at her top-choice auditions had she had some lower-stakes auditions first. Our thinking at the time had been that if she didn’t get into one of her top-choice programs in the fall/early winter then at least she’d still have time to do more auditions late winter/early spring.

And yes, it is a brutal process! I sympathize with everyone currently going through it. I do feel things worked out for the best for my daughter and that she is where she was meant to be. I hope that is true for everyone here, too.

We just got home and this is same letter we got from GM.

@threegirlpileup good luck to your D at GM audition this weekend! We are considering the Nov 9 audition.

We are also considering the Nov 9th audition!

Anyone else receive academic acceptance yesterday to Point Park? Makes me believe their Dancewave results are going to be coming out this week…
