Syracuse Class of 2028 Official Thread

in the past they have released decisions and posted on instagram simultaneously vs posting on instagram earlier announcing what’s to come. they fly by the seat of their pants and decide on a whim what they want to do. there is ZERO consistency year to year - keeps it interesting for sure.

I know Syracuse tracks demonstrated interest. What has your child done in terms of this?

We went to an Orange Preview day (5 hours drive from home), have interacted on social media, emailed the AO and my D had an interview. Hoping this all helps her chances!

We have done two campus visits, including a tour of the School of Arch, that were logged by admissions (we have family in the area), S24 met with an AO at his school on two separate occasions, had an interview with the School of Arch after portfolio submission, interacted on social media, clicked through every email received, S24 attended multiple virtual sessions hosted by the School of Arch, and followed up with School of Arch staff with a question on one occasion. In addition, the guidance counselor for S24’s high school followed up with the AO to reiterate S24’s strong interest in SU and the architecture program.

My daughter is interested in architecture so definitely am going to look into Syracuse when she hits junior year.

They have an excellent program from what we can tell. One unsolicited piece of advice - Syracuse and some other B.Arch programs require or strongly encourage submitting a portfolio - definitely a good idea to get a jump on that process early. SU has great info on their program website about what they want to see in a portfolio and in the fall they offer virtual info sessions on the portfolio aspect of admissions there.

We did the summer program last year–for high school students. We did not do an interview tho–didnt even know how to arrange that. Will that be a limitation?

I would think that the architecture summer program would be a bonus if you did it at SU. That’s probably the one thing we couldn’t swing. I think it is a 3-week program and S24 could only get away from his summer job for a week, so did an architecture program elsewhere. I think the portfolio interview is encouraged, but as I understood it, the number of interview slots is far less than the number of students offered admission, so doing the interview is not an absolute requirement. Good luck - hopefully today’s the day!

Thank you so much! Definitely will follow up and look into this. Praying for Good news today or next week for your college bound student. Go orange!

I wouldn’t worry about the interview too much. I am glad my kid registered for one last summer because by the end of September there were no slots left. We were in a SU virtual session (early Fall) and a student asked the admissions director about the lack of interview availability and they told the students it’s not the end of the world if you can’t/don’t do an interview as they recognize there are far more applicants than available interview slots. I also noticed that the “interview” fell from Very Important to Important on the CDS last year…

I can’t find out until my D looks. With a full day of activities who knows when I will find out.

Mine lets me check for her for most schools. She really wants this one so I will have to wait …thankfully we are west coast so she should be home when they release!

what time will decisions release?

I still think decisions will be next Friday…no particular reason why, and I hope I am wrong!! My heart and stomach can’t take much more waiting and worrying.

If they release any decisions today (and from what I’ve read, they can come in waves - admits first, then WL, then denials) it should be between 4 and 5 pm EDT based on prior years.
