This is the official discussion thread for Syracuse Class of 2028 RD applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.
This is our only RD school applied to. Best of luck to fellow Cuse applicants! Amazing school.
How is this thread so quiet? Iâm surprised.
D applied for Maxwell, 3.85/4.1, no test. 8 AP, 3 H, 1 DE at Syracuse last summer. Strong State level ECs, internships, camp counselor and captain of state champion team. Individually ranked at state level in her sport. Good why Syracuse essay and great recs. I love Cuse for her and am really hoping for this one!
Hoping to get this thread going so I have someone to play portal astrology with
And as an aside, super impressed with their communication. Her AO has been really responsive.
My thought it will get more busy once we are closer to the decision date. Hopefully that is!
Has anyone heard from an ED applicant if they already have a designated day for accepted students to visit? My daughter also applied to Maxwell (husband is an alum) and we donât really want to wait until April to visit.
What is the April date? (D applied Maxwell RD but this is a top two choice so I would like to hold a room)
ED accepted students day has not been communicated yet for in-person visits. We have only seen virtual sessions scheduled for end of this month and early next month. You can periodically check their site for updates:

I think there might be a special one for ED students? If you look on last yearâs thread someone (not me, I donât know details) says
âFor ED students, they sent a special invitation for a reception day by email with a registration link (and I think it might have been posted in the portal).â
For RD students, the dates were released really late last year. They call them âSpring Receptionsâ and I believe they are held on basically each Monday and Friday in April. Hereâs a post I made in last yearâs thread:
Thanks, I looked on their website and they have one visit day in Feb and one in March so we are going Feb. 19. Good to experience the heart of winter!
I swear our kids applied to all the same schools! I keep seeing your name showing up in the same threads I am followingâŠlol. My student applied to Maxwell as well. It is my top choice, but not necessarily his.
Ha! Maybe we should do some matchmaking!
Yes same. We are likely down to Syracuse, IU, Wisco, Michigan,Lehigh and possibly Delaware. She got into a bunch of ea schools but has since decided they donât work for her. Grr.
Any educated guesses as to RD decision date? I know itâs late March, is that more likely to be March 22 or March 29?
It depends. Two years ago, one of my sonâs received their notification on 4/1. And prior to that, my other son received his on 3/15 a few years earlier. I will warn that decisions typically will start on one date and then come out in waves over the course of a few weeks.
We are waiting on results Cuse, GeorgeWashington, UMaryland and UWashingtonâŠwaiting patiently for these announcements. Right now his top choices are IU and Ole Miss. I tried to get him to apply to U Wisconsin Madison and MichiganState, but he wanted to get out of the cold and snow (which is why I am not hopeful SU will make the cut).
Forgive me for weighing in on your exchange with @OregonMom2024. My middle son will attend Syracuse Newhouse in class of â28 but my older son is in Kelley at IU. Iâm sure Maxwell is great but canât say enough good things about IU. For what itâs worth.
Iâll join this conversation! My daughter is anxiously waiting the Syracuse RD date! Sheâs just received three back-to-back-to-back Deferral (USC) / Rejection (UNC) / Deferral (NEU) and is hoping her next few decisions are positive to get her spirits up again. We visited Syracuse (just a regular campus visit) on January 8, and she really liked it. She was nervous she wouldnât like the cold, but thought the snow was beautiful and said she could totally see herself attending.
S24 has exactly the same thing!
My D was also deferred from Northeastern (which was her top choice). Still waiting on BU and Syracuse. Even though she has 6 other acceptances, theyâre not HER top choices. Stressful doesnât even begin to describe it!
