We’re full pay too and I haven’t completed any financial aid docs for any school
I saw 3/21 posted as well on the CSS profile indicating “Award letter date.” Do you think it’s the same for everyone regardless of if they’re accepted I guess? My son applied to another CSS school where a date was never provided (and he didn’t receive anything).
We also see 3/21 on the CSS Profile. It makes sense that the mail bulk of decisions will start rolling out then. Fingers crossed!
i can see colleges with award dates on my daughters list that she either did not get into or was deferred. So I would say it means nothing as far as acceptance.
Yeah. I think it is more an indicator of when decisions may come out and not necessarily if they were accepted. But hoping for the best! ![]()
Totally agree! From my experience with my older kid 3 years ago, 21st is a good bet historically for RD release…
Does SU always release on a Friday?
yes ususally from my experience and college advisors I follow as well.
Thank you. Fingers crossed.
Syracuse is notorious for a long wait for RD decisions, and also releasing decisions in waves (e.g., admits with big scholarships first Friday in March, the 2nd Friday in March releasing international, the 3rd Friday in March RDs, and 4th Friday releasing waitlists/rejections).
Of these, here’s the historical data for Regular Decision release dates:
2024: 4th Friday, March 22 ~4pm EST
2023: 4th Friday, March 24, ~3:45pm EST
2022: 4th Friday, March 25, ~5pm EST
2021: Friday, March 5 (admits w/big scholarships), Friday March 12 and Monday March 15 (int’l admits), then RDs released on Friday, March 19th at 5:20pm EST. (This was in their old proprietary portal which they’ve since stopped using.)
Based on these trends of the past four years, if you can call them that, we know that decisions are typically released on Fridays. The most recent three releases (2022-2024) were in the 4th week of March. However, as you see above, the 2021 RDs came out more randomly, sometimes in batches by major or school, in the 3rd week of March–but they had multiple, rolling release dates. Because they’ve since updated to a more modern, standard portal, I think we can agree to bracket those 2021 release dates as an anomaly. One consistency: the release time has been between 3:45–5:20 pm EST.
Taking this together, my best prediction for this year is that we’ll see some batches on Friday, March 21st and more on Friday, March 28th around 4-5pm EST. Don’t lose hope if you don’t hear in the first batch, because even in 2022-24 admitted students have posted that they heard in some straggling batches of admissions that went out. However, decisions after the 4th Friday have overwhelmingly been waitlists and rejections. Hope this helps with the wait!
My older daughter was admitted in 2022, she found out on March 18th, which was the 3rd Friday and can confirm that was indeed the biggest admittance wave. There were earlier ones with giant scholarships but I do believe there were some that got Leadership scholarships in week 3 which were pretty hefty. My daughter got a Dean’s scholarship which was only about $10-$15,000 if I remember correctly. Nice but not a big dent in the price tag.
Goood luck to all…my younger D25 is also patiently waiting. ; )
@JKingNJmomOF2 if you don’t mind sharing - did your D’22 end up attending Syracuse? If so, what has her experience been with the professors, career placement, socially? Thank you!
No, she ultimately did not choose Syracuse. She loved the school, but she liked the program she applied for at other schools she was admitted to. I also think it was a larger University than she was comfortable with.
My younger daughter loves Syracuse and the program she applied to and also did summer pre college here. It is one of her top choices.
I can speak on this, however dated my opinion may be. My husband, myself, my sister, and my brother in law are all Syracuse University alumna. We were all in different colleges and different programs (VPA, Economics, Biology, & English). All had different experiences, but all positive. Half in greek life, half of us not, one in the honors program. We all loved our days at Syracuse and they have a large alumni network and I feel I was well prepared to get a job when I graduated. I can safely say every job I ever got I was given an interview based on the fact that I graduated from my program in VPA from SU and always got the job and they were always impressed with my portfolio.
That said, it is a very expensive school these days. When my sister and I attended, we each got so much money to go here it made it cheaper than our flagship state school to attend. I dont know if that would be the case now.
The weather is definitely not great, you have to be ok with snow, rain, wind, cold, and lots of it, lol. At that age its bearable
It snowed on my graduation in May after it had been in the high 70s and sunny for 4 days proceeding…lol.
My husband and I are still close to many of our SU friends and regularly spend time together, travel together, and our children are all friends. My sister as well.
Good luck to your graduating senior! We should all know soon…
Added to say, some of us found our place socially very quickly, some not. This is something that could happen anywhere I believe. Lots of things could factor in. Are they happy with their major, were there people they clicked with on their floor, how out going are they? My sister had a hard time at first, it helped that I was already there with her. Once she changed her major and rushed second semester, she found her people. I did not need to do any of that. Like I said different experiences. Once she found her place, she loved SU. There are so many outlets and clubs nowadays, there is something for everyone. It was a fun place to be for sure.
Does everyone still think tonight is a strong possibility for a decision?
It’s the most likely date based on past years. Next Friday would be much later than usual.
Anyone have some portal astrology? I haven’t had access to my son’s portal so I have no idea if anything has changed/buttons disappeared/etc.
WE can access the Portal (not unavailable) and looks exaclty the same to me ![]()
