Congratulations! Which school were you admitted to? You should be receiving the acceptance packages within a week or so after being accepted. My son, an ED1 accepted student, took longer because of the winter break. The package contains the same welcome letter you see online and some other information, along with stickers. That said, you financial aid packages are supposed to be posted soon after, if not simultaneously, as the portal updates. We are still waiting because of a snafu with one of the CSS Profile documents, so he hasn’t formally committed yet.

Thank you! I got into A&S, but I also have not submitted FAFSA or CSS yet. I hope I get my package soon though. I deposited on Sunday.

Hello! Does anyone know what date regular decision will come out or when it came out last year? I know the portal says ā€œlate marchā€ but I am just curious on the potential date.

Lots of speculation on this thread along with info on last year: Syracuse Class of 2028 Official Thread - #142 by OregonMom2024

No one knows for sure. A few decisions appear to have trickled out the last two Fridays. Best guess seems to be most of the decisions will be released March 15 or 22. My money is on March 22.

My bet too, if only because we will be on a plane for six hours that day

I’m wondering if anyone with an ED student is planning to attend one of the admitted student receptions that are coming up, or are those more tailored to admitted students who haven’t decided whether they’re attending or not? I’d of course be more than happy to attend, but it would not be an insignificant expense for us and I’m counting my pennies for the first tuition payment!

Can’t speak specifically to Syracuse and the upcoming event but S23 was accepted RD at a different school and attended the accepted student event and there were a good number of ED kids there. I didn’t see anything they might have gotten out of it over/above what they hopefully already knew before applying ED. I can’t speak to what the thought process necessarily was for those families - possibly they were more local and wanted their kid to ā€œfeel the loveā€.

you’ll get a mix because in the end - timing is timing and you sign up for what works for your family.

Daughter was accepted RD to Syracuse today and we’re debating attending a Spring Reception/Admitted Student event… Have any of the ED admits here attended one of these? Did you find it worthwhile? I don’t want to take off work and spend on a hotel if there’s not much to be learned/gained more than the campus tour we did last year. Thanks!

Their events are very well done and the pull out the red carpet. If it’s a strong contender for your daughter consider going.

It is her top choice…just worried about the cost! Not thrilled about the long drive and hotel expense, but I imagine she’ll talk me into it. Is there an opportunity to meet one on one with FA, if scheduled? Do you get to see a dorm or dining hall?

IMO, if she knows she wants to go there and will accept, I think it’s hard to justify the cost to travel to it. I agree with others that they really do roll out the red carpet and for my son (a current junior there), he was undecided until his program’s accepted student’s day and it sealed the deal. BUT, we’re only an hour away, and he was still undecided.
He did not see a dorm or talk to FA one on one. He talked to the head of his particular college at the school in depth, learned more about specific opportunities within the college/program, got some swag, walked around campus, etc.

Similar question. Whats more rah rah, spring reception or a leadership scholars event?

Actually, I’ve had two different kids go to one each of these, both at Syracuse, ironically, but different kids. Son went to Spring accepted student’s day and it was roll out the red carpet, talk with program dean, get additional info./tours, etc. Fun and informative. He attended up attending and it’s been great for him.
SU. Daughter got accepted into Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs as a Leadership Scholar and we went to the dinner/reception at SU. It was fantastic. Super impressive, amazing speakers and meal, all out ā€œwining and diningā€ - very different than typical accepted student’s days, which are fun, but at a much more chill level. She LOVED the event, and it was extremely well done (honestly, almost sold her), but she ended up choosing a different school because the school itself wasn’t the right fit.

Thank you for your advice and info! My daughter was understandably excited yesterday when she got good news, so she convinced me to register for a Spring Reception. A few hours later, I said to my husband, ā€œwhy am I taking her back if we already know she loves it there?ā€ Talking to staff in her program will be nice. I have a lot of FA questions, so maybe I can schedule an appointment that afternoon, if at all possible. I’m going to give my daughter a few days and then ask again if she still really wants to go…

I would not pass up the opportunity to attend the Leadership scholars event. I am jealous! I would think that SU would almost assume/expect you’d pick that event over a regular spring reception…

Honestly, for my kids they went to admitted student day for their top choice because they wanted to be sure before giving up less expensive, closer options. For some, there might also be an element of hoping to meet a future roommate though both my kids are too shy to find a roommate that way. I also think logistically they looked at things differently when it’s ā€œI am close to making this place my home for the next four yearsā€ versus do I like it enough to apply and find out more if I get in.
