@Prospetive20 you continue this conversation in an ED forum. I stated what my intentions where from the start . Guess I could have done a better job at it from my first post. But because you want to continue this conversation I will gladly continue to respond. My intent was to remind these
kids who felt down on themselves for not getting in ED with amazing credentials that they have many many other options and with past experience, Nescac schools are very generous and many meet full need when accepted. CUSE puts a tremendous amount of pressure on parents for financials up front prior to acceptance deadlines! They may say they are need blind but they surely are NOT! These kids need to be aware of other schools who will give money to them and will not just accept the rich and the poor. If you are a white candidate who can not afford the school, chances are you aren’t getting in with financial aids help. If you do get in they will give minimal money!! MINIMAL! There may be a handful of exceptionally bright students who get in and are given a lot of help but those students are the minority! Also, google syracuse university head who didn’t think rankings mattered. She’s at Rutgers now. Maybe they are trying to clean up their act in recent days but doesn’t seem it. There are many more articles out there about CUSE and financial aid factors. You can argue your points and I do respect your loyalty to the College that you attend but you haven’t a clue as to how that Financial aid office runs. Again, I will provide specific information when the time is right.
@Prospective20 my D is also a current student, many issues with safety in/near campus. Students get the notices of incidents that campus safety chooses to disclose. anyone can check their website & crime log.
Even in the 80s girls were cautioned to walk in pairs or more after dark. Frats provided walk-home service on weekends.
@jolly7707 Have you ever worked in the Syracuse financial aid office, or any financial aid office at all? Race and gender play zero role in how much aid one receives. I have many, many friends who are white males who come from the same upper middle class status as myself and receive the exact same amount of financial aid. Seriously, until you can provide some hard hitting evidence that points to the fact that Syracuse financial aid discriminated on the basis of sex and race or that Syracuse admissions discriminated against wealthy white males, do not spread false info.
@mommabear67 All of the recent incidents have occurred off campus, and I believe only one of them involved a student of the university. For the most part, if you are walking with friends in and around campus, you are safe.
Don’t see discussion group – wonder if anyone could handicap for me on merit $ for 4.3 WGPA and 31 ACT? Top high school
Congratulations to all who got in! I am thinking of applying ED next year. Can anyone who got into Whitman please tell me their stats? Thanks!
GPA?
SAT/ACT?
AP Courses?
@jolly7707 you have absolutely zero idea what you are talking about. You mentioned Tufts? Tufts only gives need based financial aide. No merit aide whatsoever. You sound bitter and ill informed.
