Starting a thread here for waitlisted kids. My daughter was waitlisted. We have done all we can-LOCI, head of our school spoke with the admissions dean, letters sent on her behalf-so we are just waiting. And of course paid deposit at another school.
I know Syracuse pushed back their deposit date to May 15th. Hopefully there will be so notices or movement happening within a few days after that.
Are you full pay? Thatās who they will likely target.
I get you are excited for SU - thatās awesome.
But please donāt share that excitement with your daughter - glad she found another school and hopefully she engages with others there and loves it so much that if others do come calling, sheās already moved on emotionally. Or at least if they donāt come calling, that sheās not let down.
Good luck to her.
Good luck and it appears lots of waitlists being drawn upon this year. While you certainly shouldnāt be overly optimistic a wait list isnāt a rejection until the class is closed.
Keep the hope aliveš
Thank you. We are happy with the other school. Actually very happy. But I know she would change paths if Syracuse says yes.
OP: I read your post in another thread in which you shared that your daughter was accepted to Syracuse University on the condition that she spend her first semester abroad. You also shared that her sister currently is at Syracuse University and that your daughter graduated at the top (valedictorian ?) of her prep school class. If accurate, a simple phone call to one with decision making authority should yield a positive response.
Of course, I do not know the specifics, but I doubt that SU would say no.
I have had great success with phone callsābut you must connect with one who has authority to make decisions on this matter.
Yes! You are correct! She was offered the abroad option-but like so many other kiddos she is not interested in going abroad in the fall. But even with her stats, weāre like everyone else. We have to wait it out. If it works out-great, if not we do have a wonderful school that is loving her.
I looked at the Syracuse website. Judging by the photos, the freshman study abroad cohorts are smallājust about 8 students per locationāis this correct ?
Did your daughter indicate any interest in these programs when she applied to SU ?
The website does not present these study abroad programs in an attractive light; easy to understand your daughterās disappointment.
You may know that Syracuse still hasnāt processed any FAFSA and no one has received their estimates. Given that itās already May 7 I wouldnāt be surprised to see June 1 as the decision date.
Has anyone gotten off so far
YES- My daughter was TEXTED, then emailed on May 7 (āUpdate to your application statusā).
Youāre given a week to decide: YES/NO.
Congratulations on being accepted off the WL. Another example of a WL not being a rejection but in practical terms it was nothing more than a deferred decision. Good luck and glad you kept the faith.
(Sigh, Sigh) Thank you for the kind words.
I wonder if ācongratulationsā is the right word⦠When all the kids are deservingā¦and so many of them would do absolutely fine at virtually all of the places to which they applied⦠It becomes this terrible game of āinchesā and āluckā and the āuniverseā and I donāt know what elseā¦???
She made itā¦and we all just looked at each other in the house when the email hit. She taped the printed out version of the text message to the wall in her bedroom.
If you feel comfortable answering, what major or school was it? Im still waiting as of now.
College of Arts and Sciences - Sheās basically undecided.
My daughter received a message yesterday (5/15) congratulating her for being offered admission off the waitlist. Said the official notification would come by end of the week. Of course sheās over the moon. And so are we!
Congrats! Hopefully I end up in the same boat lol.
for those of you who got off the waitlist, what time did you find out? just wondering if they go out a certain time
syracuse is my dream school and id love to go but im on the waitlist right now
Tuesday around 4PM-
someone on zeemee said they got off the waitlist for arts and sciences at around 4 pm today!
so hopefully more movement this week
Has anyone come off the waitlist since June 1st?
