Do we know for sure that Brandon isn’t getting the $ & that they just failed to mention it last night. I can’t believe that the show is hurting financially since the network is airing a fall season of the show as well.

Glad a girl won - just the wrong girl IMO.

I loved seeing the Addiction dance again. We knew the breast cancer dance would be last. But some of those others - did they have contracts with the choreographers to feature their work on the finale, no matter how dull? I just don’t belive that Debbie Allen thought that waltz was her favorite of the season.

I just hope all those young people have smart people giving them career advice.

Of the top 4, here’s my ranking based on technical skill:
- Brandon
- Kayla
- Jeannine
- Evan

jeannine may be America’s “favorite” dancer but she is by no means the best. My household was stunned and bummed by the choice.

I disagree about Kayla and Jeanine. As far as I’m concerned, Jeanine far outdanced Kayla in Mia’s piece. Kayla may have done the steps, but Jeanine danced it - there is a difference.

I don’t feel too bad for Brandon that he didn’t get to say anything; 2nd place never did. At least this year they gave him a “look back” montage - Travis, Danny, Twitch didn’t even get that. In previous years, the winner didn’t get to say anything either; it was announce winner, drop confeitti, everything’s done. It was clear this year that they had some additional time to fill - that’s why Jeanine didn’t have anything planned.

I do hope Brandon got the money, though!

I never watch this show but one of my Ds happened to be here and wanted to see the finale. As we sat watching, I happened to notice two friends of ours sitting just behind Nigel. What a funny surprise! :)

Chedva, I agree completely about Jeanine and Kayla in Mia’s piece! Yes, Kayla has fabulous technique, has all season, but I don’t find her dancing believable (Mia’s addiction piece being somewhat of an exception, although I think the choreography, storyline and Kupono were more important than Kayla. I did think she was better last night than in the original. She’s only 18, there’s time for her to grow too!). Jeanine also has fabulous technique, which got better and better as the season went along (but no,she wasn’t blessed with the legs that Kayla has–who cares? Not me), and when she dances I FEEL it! Kayla leaves me cold. Technique and good legs aren’t everything.
My daughter, who is a lifelong dancer even now in college, also felt the same way about the difference between Jeanine and Kayla. She told me “truth” was what was missing when Kayla danced.

I know the dance schools all give lip service to having “healthy” bodies, but do you think that Jeanine with her beautiful soft looking curvy body can actually be hired for anything other than ■■■■■-Cat Doll-like stuff? Do the folks who hire dancers still want the lean look?

I totally agree with NYdancemom about Jeanine v Kayla. When Jeanine dances, you just know it’s RIGHT. That girl just stuck to everything she did…never hopped on turns or extensions, for example, where if you looked closely, Kayla did. But they are both absolutely stunning technical dancers…Kayla obviously has the advantage in her “build”, but Jeanine was just, to me, way above Kayla in the pure delight we felt when watching her dance.

But I also voted for Evan…he just won my heart. :)

missypie, I’ve seen the “lean look” & weight issues more in classical ballet than in other types of dance - certainly not in videos or Broadway type dancing. I think Jeanine certainly has a broader future ahead of her. The judges all touted how they loved her body.
