SYTYCD new season

Twitch is worth his weight in gold.

That ballerina is so skinny I can hardly watch her.

^^^^^

Agree missypie. She is the real life version of the ballerina in the music box, a stick figure.

What kind of BS was THAT?! Nigel doesn’t want Jose or Billy to go home so he changes the rules? Gimme a break! Jose’s so bad they don’t even put him in the group dances anymore and the choreographers barely give him anything to do, but the judges won’t send him home.

Cat was right - they make up the show as they go along.

I agree, patsmom! What a bunch of garbage! I just do not get why they won’t send Jose’ home. I DO understand, though, that Billy put them in a tough spot…what would stop any dancer from just deciding they needed to rest on any given week? Or what if they ALL decided they needed to rest one week?

Very interesting…

Did you see the look on the three “safe” dancers when the announcement was made? It looked to me that they thought the decision to keep all three was BS as well. Any thoughts as to the reasoning of why the judges are showing blatant favoritism towards Jose?

I really wish they would include more season 6 dancers on the tour, as they didn’t even get one of their own. :(

Just saw it, LAME!!! What is this, “we cannot make up our minds?” Is this season 7? 7 Seasons, 7 seasons of try outs all over the country, 7 vegas cuts and they cannot get it through their thick heads to cut Jose?

I will be very unhappy if Jose’ and Billy aren’t the 2 send home next week. Jose’ should have been send home weeks ago and even if Billy performs well next week he has had an extra week of rest. I don’t know how tonight Nigel could tell Robert he hasn’t gown as a dancer when last night Nigel and the other judges went on and on saying how much he has improved.

I think the problem was with Billy - since the doctor said he could dance but he decided to sit things out… they don’t know what he’s going to do next week. Their rules say if he doesn’t dance – he’s out – but they obviously didn’t want to let him go right yet. If they knocked off Jose and then Billy was a no-show next week… they would be down 2 ahead of schedule. So this gives them a hedge if Billy doesn’t dance – they can then disqualify Billy and do a one-off as usual. If Billy does dance… then they go ahead with the 2 off.

The alternative would have been to go ahead and knock Billy out… but they probably didn’t want to be kicking Billy off and keeping Jose, given the obvious difference in technical ability.

From what I understand, it was a knee injury with Billy. I don’t know exactly what it was, but all the years my daughter danced, she would have taken more breathers during rehearsal, walking through the choreography rather than actually dancing it – then wrapped the knee, gone on stage and done her best.

Calmon, I think you are correct in figuring out what the judges are thinking. The problem comes next week if someone other than Jose’ or Billy is sent home. If Billy can dance and is not in the bottom 3 he ends up having an extra week of rest, which is unfair to the other dancers. If Jose’ is not in the bottom 3 next week he will have benefitted at least twice because another dancer was eliminated due to injury. It is beyond obvious that he cannot dance outside his limited area.

Calmom, I think you are spot on about the reasoning behind this. One of the things really irks me is the judges comments to Robert about not improving, which directly contradicts what they said the night before. And then, as tututaxi said above, it would just be awful if enough people voted for Jose to keep him out of the bottom 3 next week. For goodness sakes, he was not even included in the opening numbers for the results shows and I am sure it’s because he just could not have done the choreography. It would have looked AWFUL!

Why have rules if you’re not going to adhere to them? I wonder if the judges were split over Jose and Billy. We all agree it’s time for Jose to go, but I’ve got to assume that at least some of the judges were put off by Billy’s decision to rest when the doctors said he could dance.
With only 6 dancers left & the enormous popularity of Kent & Lauren, there’s a good chance Jose will be in the bottom 3 next week…but anything’s possible. Alot will depend on what styles he gets & how accommodating the choreographers are in designing a routine that covers up his deficiencies.

I just read on another website that Billy was only cleared to dance 3 hours before the taping and that he didn’t feel that he had enough rehearsal time to do well. That colors my objections a little because I can understand that he would have been at a disadvantage if he chose to dance, but I’m still upset at how the producers (Nigel) can change the rules to suit their whims.

And don’t forget that Jose’s schedule has been less strenuous than the others the last two weeks since he hasn’t been in the opening numbers.

I think Jose ought to be in those group numbers, good, bad, or ugly!

I wonder on Billy, that took a lot of gumption to say, “No” If he was cleared, that just means he would not likely do permanent damage. I have a kid who played sports through knee problems and I would go with her gut, not the Doc. I cannot imagine Billy was taking a breather for the break. If he did not rehearse and learn it how could he do well and straining on unlearned choreography could worsen the knee injury. Does any one know what the injury was? In my DD’s sports she played injured, but didn’t have to look good doing it.

missypie, yes I agree somewhat …. but Billy should automatically be placed in the bottom 3 next week. It would be unfair if Lauren, Kent, or AdeChike happen to land in the bottom 3. Realistically, I don’t think Kent or Lauren are in jeopardy but AdeChike could find himself in the bottom 3 along with Robert and Jose. Or if Jose’ gets a sufficient number of votes, the bottom 3 could be Billy, Robert and AdeChike.

Agree!!

Have they offered any explanation of why Jose has not been in the opening group numbers? Has it been mentioned at all?

I also found Mia’s off-shoulder top and huge tattoo quite distracting. I kept trying to figure out what it was - roses maybe?

Ok, tonight Nigel tried to say he was completely unaware that Jose’ had not been in those two opening pieces. Not for a SECOND do I believe that!!! And how does it make sense that Jose’ has an “injury” that prevents him from being in that opening piece, yet allows him to do all those crazy things he does in his solos. ALSO, he gets quite a break from rehearsals over the other contestants, yet nothing is said to him about that, after Nigel pretty much let Billy have it last week for sitting out.

Sorry, I am just not buying it.

I agree, Nigel is full of it.

I’m not a Billy fan, but his dance with Ade was really great. Maybe I was just seduced by the music (Mad World) but I really enjoyed his performance.

Poor Lauren - she looked terrible standing there with Cat listening to the judges’ critiques. Now that I know she was with the medics, I guess she was in a lot of pain! I rewatched the end of her dance and it did sort of look like she was limping a little on her way across the stage when she was done. She looked like she was about to cry and I’m surprised the judges didn’t pick up on it. What a shame if she can’t be in the final!

I also really liked the Bollywood number. Robert is really good and I don’t think he gets enough praise or respect from the judges.

Jose HAS to go home tonight, and probably AdeChike, too, although I think the producers set him up for failure with the dance choices and partners he got. I don’t believe for a minute that the dance choices are random…
