SYTYCD Season 10

Very well could have been Cyrus. At the time, it didn’t matter to me so I did not retain it, but her dancing with Twitch last night got me to thinking…

Twitch is engaged to another of the all-stars who was on last night, Allison Holker. She was paired with Fik-Shun.

They said that about Joshua Allen (winner of Twitch’s season.) He was from around here and people from several local studios remembered him.

Yes, Jasmine went out with Cyrus. There’s a rather mesmerizing video of the two of them dancing that came out after last season, when people knew Cyrus, but before anyone had ever heard of Jasmine. My daughter loved it.

Although Fik-Shun may not be the best all-around male dancer this season, he would have to be considered one of the best hip-hop dancers to ever appear on the show. I think he is brilliant in his specialty and I’m very happy that he is still around. He really hasn’t had a “bad” week yet.

Aaron is probably the male front-runner, though…

But then he had a “trite” number to an overdone song and didn’t nail it…so he may be gone.

^I’m guessing (and hoping) it’s Paul.

I agree that Fik-shun is indeed a brilliant hop-hop dancer and he has performed very well these past few weeks. I only take issue with the inaccurate backstory that developed and is repeated week after week about his lack of formal training.

When Paula Abduhl was judging, she called FikShun by his real name (Deshaunt?) and mentioned that he had been on her show when he was 15 or 16.

I agree Aaron could be a contender for the guys. Has he ever been in the bottom? Will they have just one winner or one guy and one girl?

I thought it was the other Jasmine who had been connected to Cyrus from last season. There were two Jasmines in the original top 20 this year. The other one had the long curly hair, beautiful smile, left fairly early.

I googled it, and it was Jasmine Harper who dated Cyrus.

It was “long-legged” Jasmine (Harper) that dated Cyrus and not “Jazzy” Jasmine (long curly hair Jasmine that was eliminated weeks ago). This was covered in the back-story during Jasmine Harper’s initial audition.

No surprises for me on the final 4 tonight. I did think Aaron should have gotten some criticism from the judges for allowing all-star Melanie to land on her back and head (he didn’t) and she could have been injured (she, fortunately, wasn’t).

All 6 semi-finalists had to dance a solo and I thought Fik-Shun’s was, by far, the best of the night. His ballroom number with “all-star” (?!) Whitney was his weakest performance of the night, but he finished strong.

I’m hoping that Amy and Fik-Shun are the winners, even though Jasmine is probably the judge’s favorite female at the moment.

Still not getting the Jasmine love. I think those very long arms and legs create an illusion that she’s a better dancer than she really is. I find her downright mediocre. Apparently there was a lot of disagreement among the judges about whether she should even be included in the top 20, so I don’t think I’m totally off base here. All in all, for whatever reason the best female dancers didn’t rise to the top this season.

I’m hoping Aaron wins (but I know he won’t), because I’d like to see a tapper get some recognition. His solo tonight was amazing, and I think for a big, muscular guy with a totally different physique from most male dancers we see on the show, he’s remarkably graceful and adept at all the genres. I have to admit, despite my admiration for Aaron, I did laugh when he dropped Melanie–and re-played the video more than once. I’m so ashamed…

Lastly a shout out to Alex Wong, who apparently can do everything perfectly. His Bollywood number made all the other dancers look lame. It was almost unfair to put him on the same stage.

I found it interesting that 2 popular couples from the beginning of the season made it to the finale. It seems that, if a dancer catches on with the audience early in the season, then they’ll likely keep getting the necessary votes regardless of how they perform.

We were also happy about the two charismatic couples making it into the finals. Wouldn’t it be neat if a tapper won? I love Jasmine; I don’t think her dancing is an illusion. She has amazing control during slow movements. That’s hard to do. Amy is amazing also.

Can’t take my eyes off him when he’s on stage. I’m such a fan!

I love all the finalists. Amy was a big surprise for me. She can do everything. She and Alex in the Bollywood number were unbelievable. That dance was insane.

Also really loved seeing Melanie Moore but didn’t think her duet really did her talent justice.

I’m not a parent… just a senior guy in high school, but last night’s episode was good. Loved seeing Witney and Joshua again, but I was sad Paul was sent home. He was probably my favorite guy, but the top 3 guys are just so so talented.

I’m not really a big fan of any of the top 3 girls, though I did agree with Hayley being sent home. I preferred Mackenzie or Hayley and Jenna, but I also preferred the other Jasmine over Jasmine “I dated Cyrus” Harper.

MommaJ, I agree with you on all points. I can’t fall in love with Jasmine either. I think people get dazzled by her developes, which admittedly are amazing, but there’s more to dance tecnique than that. She’s also lacking in charisma and stage presence, something Amy has in abundance.

Re Aaron – as the mother of a tapper, I practically cheered out loud when Jesse opined that all these amazing dancers should be required to try that discipline. The world would see how truly difficult tap is.

Re Alex – it’s always a treat to watch him, no matter what genre. I feel like Bollywood is a guilty pleasure, at least in some circles, but I’m glad to hear that you folks like it too. That was probably my favorite number of the night. Pure fun!
