I can’t remember what dancers did a week earlier either. It was much easier to keep track when eliminations were the next day. Three weeks from now I won’t remember anything about last night’s show.

Whoever choreographs for Cyrus and Eliana needs to create a piece that plays to her strengths and let Cyrus struggle. So far the choreography seems to be geared to him and she can’t shine.

Cyrus is no way in the same dance league with Twitch. And the earlobe stuff just bugs me, can’t help getting distracted by it. That and the mohawk. Twitch was just a big, great looking, fantastically versatile dancer. Cyrus? I dunno. Just don’t get it.

I felt terrible that Amber was eliminated last night. I thought she was at the tippy top of the female dancers, tremendously versatile, beautiful, musical. Keeping the blonde ballroom girl over her was just silly, imo. Oh well.

I loved Amber, even though I did make a comment about her hair earlier in this thread (but it was a better color the last couple of weeks). That performance last night with Brandon was my favorite of the night. Too bad. In truth, I am not rooting for the little blonde ballroom girls any more.

I wasn’t impressed with Tiffany in the beginning, but now I really like her. I doubt that she will last either though because she didn’t get the huge push in the early rounds with a cute story. I have received about 20 emails from friends to vote for her, though, since she is Greek (ZTA). Maybe that will help her with the voting like being Southern helps on American Idol.

MizzBee, how can you not like Tiffany when she has a 5.2 GPA? She has been one of my fave since the beginning along with Audrey.

SYTCD needs to keep at least one ballroom dancer so I like Whitney.

I haven’t figured out which male dancer I like but so far it is Matt because he and Audrey have great chemistry. I think Cole is way too over the top. Can we have Travis, Stitch, Joshua and Mark back instead?

The choice of music for the ballroom dance routines was odd. The couples seemed to be dancing to a different song but they were distracted by the song actually playing. Cha-cha with “Call Me Maybe” and salsa with some weird arrangement of I believe Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. It was like watching a foreign language film dubbed in English with the mouth and the words out of sync.

^^^i can’t believe my loyal CCers haven’t commented on the 5.22!!! How does one get over a 5.0??? Is it IB classes??? In my world I’ve never heard of anything above a 5.

Actually laughed at the gpa comment on the show. At some schools the weighting is so out of hand kids don’t even need straight As to have a gpa well north of 4.0.

Glad they saved Lyndsey she is my favorite. I like Darien a lot too.

Also my D finally tipped me off that Amber (her favorite) clearly wears wigs each week. If you look at her clips during tryouts her hair was super short. The length changed back and forth every week.

note I sure thought I posted on this yesterday, but the post is not there so…

I hate what Fox has forced SYTYCD to do this season. The new format is awkward, I agree, but they are doing the best they can with what has been handed them.

I still LOVE this show because there is nowhere else you can see dancing of this calibre on TV week in and week out (well, not counting Olympic weeks, apparently. boo)

Amen to that! One of my favorite girls last year met an untimely end because she got stuck with the b-boy. I wonder why SYTYCD feels they have to pair these dancers up for the season?

What a great idea for a show. I have been having a hard time “falling” for any dancers, and this made me long for Twitch, Joshua, Travis, Lacy and others. The only routine that was great to me is actually my favorite from past seasons-the bench routine. It this did anything, it should have shown Mia that she needs to choreograph on the show more often.

And I have to say that I really hate “dancing for your life”, especially when it is a ballroom dancer. I just don’t think solo ballroom dancing comes across. And I think the guys overall are better than the girls this year, and it showed in the bottom six dancing.

We have the questioned answered now - all stars next week. I think all the interruptions to the season has probably stunted the dancers growth, and it’s kept me a little more distant towards the contestants. For the life of me I can’t remember Tiffany any time I see her.

I don’t even know most of their names because of the stops and starts. I do agree with Nigel that as a dancer you don’t get pieces choreographed for you, you have to step into the role. I can’t even remember if there were any really standout pieces this season.

Exactly. Usually by the time they announce the Top 10, I think “Good, they’ll be able to do [name of terrific dance] on tour!”

I follow Nigel on Twitter and he re-tweeted some of the comments (lots of criticism) that he received last night. I agree that almost no one in the dance or MT world has numbers choreographed just for them. However, I didn’t like Nigel grilling the dancers on details about Mia and her father. These dancers are young. My guess is that they knew what Mia chose to tell them and that they didn’t quiz her on details, either out of respect or intimidation.

Yeah, I am worried that the stops and starts to the show this year, plus the fact that it’s only on one night per week, is going to kill it.

That being said I thought the concept of the show last night was amazing. I was, however, not all that impressed with how the dancers did with this choreography. There are so many on twitter and such who are saying it was “unfair” to the dancers to give them iconic dances like that, but that is exactly what professional dancers do!

I am really hoping that moving forward (with the all-stars coming on), we can all get to know these wonderful dancers as individuals and get excited about this show again! Well, I have never not been excited—just a bit let down at times.

Oh, and one more prediction: Unless the voters are all about keeping Cyrus in, I predict that he will be gone soon, now that they have him in the tour. :)

In other words, I think he is about to get some SERIOUS choreography. And since he will be with an all-star, that won’t be so unfair to his partner.

I’m surprised that Nigel didn’t mention that his niece won a gold medal (I actually think it was two) at the Olympics. They certainly had time…they had time at the end for another dance.

I’m really having a hard time getting into this season. I can’t remember the names of several of the dancers; I don’t like eliminating so many dancers in one week; I don’t like the once-a-week schedule (and the Olympic break, which I guess couldn’t be helped).

I’m hoping that adding the all-stars next week will help to highlight this year’s dancers.

I keep wondering who would be gone if they weren’t eleminating equally by gender this cycle. I, too, have liked most of the boys better than most of the girls. Remember in Kent and Lauren’s year, she was the only girl for a few weeks.
