Take The Challenge - National Walking Day, April 1

Plan today to take 30 minutes tomorrow - and tell yourself - you CAN take/find 30 minutes!

Take the first step to a healthier life by taking part in the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day on the first Wednesday in April. On this day, Americans are encouraged to lace up their sneakers and take 30 minutes out of their day to get up and walk.

Let’s log our minutes walking TODAY and TOMORROW and see if the combined CC community can walk a total of 24 hours between today and tomorrow - enough to cover the whole day! That would be 48 of us walking for 30 minutes or any combo to total 24 hours over the course of the next 2 days. CAN WE DO IT?! YES.

If you take a purposeful walk today or tomorrow, log it on here and with each post, add on your time. So if the total time above your post is summed at 2 hours and 30 minutes, and you walked 30 minutes, you should put this:
“Abasket, 30 minutes, CC Total: 3 hours”

Ready? Set? GO!!!

Editing original post to say that walking the dog counts. Walking from your desk to the hallway bathroom doesn’t count.

So with that, I’ll start by logging in my pup walk this morning, short but sweet:

Abasket
15 minutes
Total CC time: 15 minutes

I’m in! I have been lazy lately and nee a challenge! Thanks for starting this-

Lemme get off this bus… Then I will walk.

Stay tuned for our evening walk

What a great idea. I will walk after my session at the gym.

Question: if part of the commute to work is walking, does that count?

IMO, it absolutely does!

Walked 15 min.

As with all fitness (IMO) if you feel your commute to work walk is worthy, then count it. You’re in the driver’s seat (so to speak!)

Again, personally, if I’m walking from my car in the parking lot to my office less than a 2 minute walk, I’m not counting it. But if you walk 15 minutes to work, I say “yes”!

OK, since my walking commute to work is almost exactly 15 minutes (round trip walking 1.5 miles), I will count it.

That makes Total CC time: 1 hour! (I added in @BunsenBurner‌’s 15 minutes).

I have an option of either taking the city bus or walking 1.2 miles up a fairly steep hill. So this walk is a choice, and therefore it counts!

I’m a little confused lol!

I walked 45 minutes today, a little running (very little, mostly walked).

I would say count running but some people run a lot of miles and I want to encourage EVERYONE to participate and not be bothered by your amount!!! But yes, if your time out was mostly walking, count it!

I’m game

Lunchtime walk: 1 hour
Total CC time: 2 hour 45 minutes

Stay tuned for evening walk with the dog!

And, rounding that out with my lunchtime campus speed walk!

Abasket
15 minutes
Total CC time: 3 hours!

ASK YOURSELF: IF YOU HAVE TIME TO READ THIS, DO YOU HAVE TIME TO WALK? (no pressure… )

Lotsofquests 15 minutes
Total CC time 3hrs 15 min

Great idea, abasket! I’m taking the week off and staying home, so perfect timing. Just walked around the lake. Plan to walk again tonight when H gets home.
