Taking AP Chem or Honors Chem

Hello,

I am a high school freshman about to go up to sophomore year at a boarding school. Before this, I was at an international school where I learned IGCSE Chemistry and I finished the course. I didn’t stay long enough for the actual exam though. Currently, I take Biology Honors, which is much detailed than IGCSE Biology. I finished IGCSE Biology in my previous school too. Additionally, this summer I’ll be going to Johns Hopskins Centre for Talented Youth to learn Fast Paced High-School Chemistry.

The question is will that be sufficient to take AP Chemistry next year? Finishing IGCSE Chemistry and taking the Johns Hopskins course. Johns Hopskins did say I could ask for credit for their courses at my school if I wanted. Would that be enough for me to take AP Chemistry, instead of Chemistry Honors next year?

I think so but in some schools honors Chem is a prerequisite for AP Chem, call or email your GC about credit by exam to skip honors class.

Thank you!
