I opted not to take English 11 Honors next year, and instead chose to take Reading & World Literature, a college-level course here. I’m extremely talented in my English 10 Honors class, earning straight A+'s, as well as being one of two kids (at least to my knowledge) eligible to take Reading and World Lit. in my junior year. The other kid, though, has to take English 11 Honors as well, while I apparently do not have to.

Still, next year all 11th graders in English 10 Regular and English 11 Honors will take a Regents. Will I have to take the Regents as well, or will I have to take English 11 Honors to take it? I don’t think I could manage both Reading & World Lit. and English 11 Honors…

Ask your school.

At my school you have to get permission to take a Regents without taking the class.

If your school will allow it,the class isn’t really neccessry. Just make sure you’ve read enough books on your own to answer the critical lens. Oh, and buy a review book or go online to learn the general formula for the essay.

definitely.

kids who fail out of the private school (that doesn’t use regents) take all of them w/o the classes at the end of senior year, so i’m sure you could do it. just get your friends notes or whatnot.

The regents exams are jokes of tests, and really easy… Colleges really don’t care much what you get on them (Unless you apply to a state NY university)… You can definitely take it w/o the class.

I have done quite a few critical lens essays this year, so I’ll be okay in that respect.

I’m sure in Reading and World Lit. I’ll read tons of books that will satisfy a critical lens essay.

Thanks!
