TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

@dzienius I would just speak to advisor. It really shouldn’t impact her at all to change majors… just know there may not be a guarantee into a certain major as only some will do this. What does she want to change to?

@mrsqster When did she apply and what is her first and second choice major?

@Thelma2 and @AggieMomhelp for your records please see post #3371

I don’t even think there is a deadline for Blinn. Apply and you’ll be accepted within a day or two. Use Apply Texas app.

@GrBraxton Could you provide your Stats please?

I would just like to throw something out. If you’ve had other kids apply to Texas A&M in the last few years, you know that this cycle was the first in which they accepted only one essay question of the three options on Apply Texas (except engineering - I know they had something else to address). I help kids write their college essays and at the time, I told everyone this was good news and bad news: The good news is you only have to write one essay! The bad news is you only have to write one essay, so it better be GOOD.

A couple of years ago UT moved to using Essay A on Apply Texas, but then requiring 3 short answer questions of its own choosing. Their short answer questions are very good and reveal a lot about the student - much more so than simply Essay A on Apply Texas. Now, none of us can say for sure how much the essay impacts the application, BUT I certainly think it’s a lot harder to differentiate between candidates when you are looking at one essay and all else is essentially equal!

Not surprisingly, Apply Texas changed its Essay A question for the 2019-2020 cycle (it was past time) but left B and C the same. I think it will be interesting to see if A&M goes back to requiring more than one essay in future admissions cycles to give at least some sort differentiation among candidates.

Sending good thoughts to all who are still waiting! My daughter is included in that group! And congrats to the already admitted Class of 2023.

We’re trying to hang on too! My son did say his friend at school was offered TEAM today. She is 11% at a big Texas highschool. He is 16% 1240 SAT, 25 ACT lots of DC, 2 AP’s. Highschool baseball team 4 years, same job 4 years, lots of volunteer hours through church youth group. NHS, Mu Alpha Theta. He doesn’t know all 1033 students, but he knows a lot and TAMU is the topic of many of conversations. He just hasn’t heard of kids getting full admission outside of our top 10%. He only applied to Texas A&M, it’s been a dream since 3rd grade and he just couldn’t “see” himself anywhere else but College Station. Trying to stay realistically optimistic in the next few days, it’s hard.
A big congratulations to all of you that were offered TEAM today. This process is so tough that I know you all are thrilled for the opportunity and breathing a huge sigh of relief.

I have to say from this experience, I already feel sorry for my youngest who is going into highschool next year with an his interests definitely lying within the engineering field. He is already observing our reactions to this whole process, and I am helping him get a better perspective of where he needs to be BEFORE going into high school. Poor kid - the pressure is already on whether we like it or not. :frowning:

My twins both applied 7/2 and still have not heard anything for Liberal Arts (Econ).
If offered anything, they have both changed their mind and want to be in Mays. If offered Blinn, is it easier to change majors? or do you still have to meet the transfer requirements and fall into the 100 transfers they allow into Mays each year?

@JaceyK Her major is set as Biomedical Sciences in AIS but since she’s still being considered for TEAM- I believe once she’s fully accepted that’s when her major (BIMS versus Biology) will show.

@AggieMomhelp if her major shows BIMS does that mean she is going to be a BIMS major through blinn TEAM or does that show in Howdy once she’s accepted? Thanks!

@ParadiseAggie
Would you mind sharing your son’s stats?
Date Applied

Please let us know the admissions decision and the date it was received

@utmom2020 Her major for Team should show under manage applications when it updates to TEAM-major or something like that. I wish I had screen shots from years past.

@calitex You need to go to this link. https://tap.tamu.edu/getattachment/Programs/TEAM/Pathway-to-Business-for-students-entering-TEAM-in-2018.pdf.aspx?lang=en-US

There is nothing easy about Mays unless you get in as a freshman. Not to be negative, just realistic.

@nervoussenior12356
What are your stats
Date Applied

Please let us know the admissions decision and the date it was received

I applied July 2nd
My first choice major was communications second was telecommunications
My rank was 1st quarter
SAT 1320 (650 math 670 reading/writing)
I had a marketing internship / wrote for my local newspaper. Many clubs, cheer team / cheer captain etc. Honors and AP classes. Many service hours and mission trips.
My App is still in review but i’m holding out for maybe blinn TEAM.

@Sydhendershot Your stats are really good along with your ECs. Be proud regardless of what TAMU does or doesn’t offer. You’ll succeed no matter what. I hope for Team for you as well, but just know you did enough!

@Bellaire2828 Can you tell me when your daughter applied pls.

A friend of mine (also in review) had a chance in her AIS from “App is currently in review” to “You are being considered for TEAM”. Is this common/what could this mean?

Congratulations to all BLINN recipients today!!!
