As a class of '90 proud Texas A&M grad, I am thrilled my son received a Blinn Team offer today especially considering how many qualified and wonderful applicants are in the same boat this year. My oldest son is a sophomore at UT this year and my middle son was very disappointed he was capped at UT since that was his first choice and he and his older brother hoped to be at the same university. My son was really hoping for a full admit but the more I learn about Blinn Team, the better I think it sounds and I am thankful he has this offer. However, still making me nervous that despite the wording on the initial screen this morning ā€œwe are pleased to inform you of your qualification for admission to Texas A&M’s Blinn TEAM programā€ when we check AIS, it now says he is being ā€œconsideredā€ for Blinn TEAM. The stress of the college admittance process for my middle son this year compared to what my oldest son experienced two years ago is VASTLY different. They are similar students with similar stats - oldest was auto academic admit for A&M due to SAT and ACT scores but middle son has a higher GPA and class rank. By the time our youngest is going through this in 3 years, I will have taken much more time with him to explore some great options other than UT and Texas A&M. I will breath a sigh of relief when the AIS system no longer reflects that he is being considered for Blinn Team!

@Cmringvelski Admissions offers that are declined are not then offered to someone else. A&M factors in using criteria none of us know, to extend more offers than they know will accept, in order to secure their freshman yield. Many will turn down the Blinn Team because they have full admissions/Scholarships/etc elsewhere.

It is the same with full admissions to the university. Not all will accept who were admitted.

@AllAggieFamily

Still waiting for something here! Nothing. My daughter is about to take the nice scholarship they are offering her at TCU! Any TEAM admits for Liberal Arts or Education? So far looks like Mays, Biology, BIMS…

Don’t loose hope, @IT22379 It ain’t over until there is a decision on the AIS portal. His stats are great. Blinn Team came out over several days in the past so today may or may not be it.
Can you tell me when your son applied for the stats?

@Momof4teens A friend of mine was offered TEAM for Communications, that is the only one I know of so far.

@GoodBull91 - the change in top 10 percent enrollment (drop from 65 to 60% ish) could have something to do with TAMUs change to holistic review of engineering candidates. I believe the reason for that change was to have the ability to select candidates for engineering they felt were best prepared for the program. And to move away from all the spaces being filled up with Auto and Academic admits. Since the attrition rate of students was higher than they wanted. I would expect a dip (not sure a full 5%) in enrollment of folks in the top 10 percent - when those students who wanted engineering but did not get it.

I haven’t heard anything and no one from my school has either…does PSA go out the same time blinn does?

PSA will be the last to go out. I still think more TEAM offers will go out and that gateway is coming as well.

Glad I applied to Blinn Bryan proper, nothing in AIS, looks like I’ll be going the less conventional route - eh.

I guess there’s still a chance for Blinn or Gateway but my SAT is super trashy - shame !

@subbutexas I have not made it through all of the pages yet but from what I can tell so far, most everyone who received a decision thus far applied A LONG TIME AGO, like August. You didn’t apply until November, so it could be that your decision will come out with a different batch. Here’s hoping.
Don’t quit until the whistle blows. Until your AIS updates with a decision, it is not time to quit.

I applied in November also I’m hoping that is the reason as to why I haven’t heard yet!

@stillhopeful581 Can you tell me your SAT and ACT breakdowns? Please tag me so I don’t miss it.

Received Blinn Team this AM! GPA:94.6 rank-2Q ACT 32 SAT 1400 major: Animal science side question if we are admitted to TEAM, do we still get the trifold acceptance banner? If not may borrow a friends lol!

I had a 91/100 GPA which isn’t amazing but not awful either. ACT was a 27. I had extra curricular a like crazy. If you’ve ever heard of 4-H? That program is my entire life and it’s run through Texas A&M AgriLife, which i thought would help me out in the review process, but I guess not. The head of the department I want to go into told me that if i didn’t get into A&M he would be dumbfounded…I still haven’t heard anything and i’m just losing hope at this point. I had a friend get in through gateway with a 22 on the ACT and only a few extra curriculars. breaks my heart.

@isabellaleigh Yes, you get the banner!!! Congrats!

@dyinginhs We too may be going the conventional BLINN route. Anyone know if their app deadline for straight up admissions application has passed? Right now, my heart screams out in despair . . . . truth is, we’re all a little stunned at how this has played out. NOT at all the way we expected, not getting into A&M was not even a consideration in our world. Later today, I will find a private place to cry (really). I’m truly bewildered at my emotional reaction to what this has turned into . . . . .
