TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

@IT22379
That is shocking to me with those stats that he hasn’t gotten in.

@tdawns Again hopefully no news is good news he got capped at UT and he didn’t want to do that, He was already accepted at IOWA and Forham University. Still waiting on TT and Baylor, but he wants TAMU. Mays was his first option and could not get in and his second is Science: Mathematics. So fingers crossed.

@IT22379
Good luck to him. I hope he gets what he wants and what he’ll be excited about.

@IT22379 when did he apply to TAMU and TT? My son is still waiting on TAMUCStat (already accepted to TAMUGalveston). He was accepted to TTech within a week after application and his stats are nowhere near as high as your sons are…shocking your son is still waiting on TTech?!?

@tdawns Thanks and good luck to you as well. I am so glad this Forum is here.

@IT22379 I’m wondering the same thing as @ParadiseAggie …. Texas Tech has a really quick turnaround time. And I’m also surprised he wasn’t an automatic academic admit with 11%-ile and that SAT score. I guess his subscores didn’t match up??

@ParadiseAggie He only recently applied to TTU when the outcome to TAMU seemed like it wasn’t gonna go his way like the decision at UT. His test scores are at TTU were just waiting for his HS transcripts to hit the account, I contacted the school and they sent last week.

@ParadiseAggie according to TAMU he went into review on 10/20 and they had all his paperwork.

@IT22379 Just wondering …with his class rank (top 25%) and strong SAT score wouldn’t he have been an academic admit?

@IT22379 Texas Tech if you have top 25% assured admission is act 24 or sat 1180.
Also I sent you a PM

@IT22379

If my location on my AIS changes to College Station does that mean anything?

@scotsfi A couple of things went wrong with his application I did try to have a conversation with admissions on why he wasn’t automatic admit. First Problem he didn’t put in his ACT (30). I don’t know why he didn’t. 2nd problem he missed the minimum on reading / writing by a couple of points which put him in holistic review. I think that being out of state may also come into play as well.

I didn’t realize Tech has minimum subscores.

@scotsfi I tried to make the argument that he will be in state when the fall classes start because I work in texas but have only been here 7 months my family will be moving here in the summer, but I would need to be here a year before he is considered.

@scotsfi Again this was from TAMU and not TTU (still waiting for his transcipts to arrive at TTU). I’m hoping he gets into TTU if TAMU does not pan out.

@IT22379 Both TTU and Baylor were pretty quick with responses in the Fall once they had all the required documents. I’m sure with those scores there won’t be a problem with either and scholarship money for both, unless the deadline has passed.

          Academic admit applied to OOS this round, If his application wan't complete, that is a different matter. OOS admits are not that limited at TAMU.

@IT22379 If he really wants to go to TAMU and isn’t offered for the fall, I’d see about having him re-apply (with his ACT score included) for Spring 2020 since the deadline is August 1. Then he wouldn’t be OOS either, correct?

The other thing would be to check if they’ve changed his major to mathematics. From the posts here and from what we’ve heard, full offers, Blinn Team, etc, haven’t gone out for College of Science.
