@TMImomof2 the running joke every year is the 12 step program that is starting for recovery from logging in repetitively. We all do/did it.
@Thelma2 thank you! She sees classmates getting BlinnTeam (which she would gladly take) and logs in every day to see she is still in review and itās very defeating. I just wish they would let her know, one way or another, soon!
Believe it or not, @Mommydoodle I get butterflies in my stomach every morning when I log on in anticipation of what I might find. Did a round of decisions come out and only one poster has posted and there is no way to send an alert for everyone to log on or was it another nothing day. I dread students getting news they didnāt want, first thing before going to school. Been there.
This is the hardest time of year.
@Thelma2 no one we know has heard within the last two weeks. But a few got Blinn-TEAM a couple weeks ago. She and another classmate have very similar stats & neither has heard anything. Counselor keeps telling them no news is good news, but I see her believing that less as each day passes.
@nomatter great words! I am the parent of an over-achieving daughter, who is Top 4% of her very large, highly competitive, suburban high school. She set a goal in 9th grade, to be top of her class, have her pick of schools. It certainly hasnāt been easy for her-she has stayed up well past midnight, every single night for 4 years. Sheās also super well rounded-sports, Charity League, and many leadership rolls in organizations. She EARNED her September acceptance to TAMU/Mays.
That being said, I canāt tell you how many people, when asked where sheās going to school in the fall, snub their nose and say, āoh, sheās an auto admit, right?āā¦like thatās a bad thing?! People act like we stole something or got in by pulling strings. My kid worked her rear off, and I resent the attitude of those who think weāre scamming the system somehow.
Most of my daughters friends and classmates are still waiting to hear back from A&M. These are amazing kids, with high gpaās and many ECās. At our school, a 4.0 doesnāt even get you close to 25%. My heart goes out to those families still waiting.
Texas is a huge state, with MANY smart, amazing high school students. There simply isnāt room for every kid to attend UT and A&M. I donāt know the answer, but please donāt diss the Top 10% kids.
(And I am very aware of students in a neighboring district, who have figured out how to scam the system-having 50+ Valedictorians/Salutatorians, common knowledge some will transfer across the highway, to lower scoring schools to up their rank. Shame on them! It is THOSE people, who ruin it for everyone)
Iāve been impressed by the genuine support and care that people on this thread show every single day to the applicants (auto admit or review) and their families. College admissions arenāt always fair, but neither is life. Itās a stressful, sometimes profoundly frustrating and disappinting time for families. Iām so grateful that thereās this space where we can express our frustration and disappointment and maybe discharge a little of our stress. This is the system we have to work within. At least our kids will begin to gain experience navigating the imperfect systems that abound in our world. ?
I think the Texas public university system is on the precipice of some really big changes. In fact, some changes are already happening at University of Houston and Texas Tech. UH gained Tier One status in 2011, and more recently, TTU did as well. With so many highly qualified Texas students and not enough seats at UT and TAMU, all colleges in Texas stand to benefit.

Iāve been away for a while but still lurking for my daughters friends and boyfriend (my daughter is one of the annoying auto admits) but I just came thru the Austin airportā¦I wish I could send screenshots. The airport is COVERED with TAMU advertisements!! Seriously. Now I know where our tuition/deposit money is going!
Yes, A&M took over. A piece of trivia is that Earl Bergstrom, for whom the airport is names, was an Aggie and graduated A&M 1934.
My daughter applied to tamu in September and Still hasnāt heard back from them and I am getting worried.

Thank you!!
do any of yall know if spaces in university studies for law or political science are fully taken. I applied for a double major in both of them and i have no heard back and I applied in the middle of october. Almost all my friends heard back and almost all of them who heard back got psa. I cant get psa because i dont want to leave college station but idk what my chances are. Iām getting more stressed as the days passes lol
@howdyyeeyee crazier things have happened, but your gpa and SAT arenāt near as high as many Iāve seen, that have been offered PSA. Everyone needs back-up plans.
Iām 95% sure that Iām getting PSA which makes me a little upset but I have to be ok with it, not the end of the world. Sort of happy this process has happened and that Iāve been waiting this long, because in the beginning I was SET on getting full, didnāt care for blinn team, gateway and sure as hell not PSA. But as time went by, I learned to accept it and be ok with it. I did research today on last years forum for review students and everyone who hadnāt heard by now heard eventually around March 8th (I think) and it was all PSA. So I hate to say it but Iām going to assume the same for us. I hope not but we have to accept it and start making our other plans
@TXDad56 Youāre right, it doesnāt clearly state the costs. All it says it 6 hours and the General Studies transition major.
Using the tuition calculator, https://tuition.tamu.edu/ and plugging in Summer 2019, Student type: Incoming Freshman, Major: General Studies, 5 week duration, move the sliding ruler to 6 hours and the tuition alone is $2,066.00. A google search brought up this page, https://reslife.tamu.edu/summer/ It seems that Fowler, Hughes, & Keathley may house Gateway. The rates that I could find state a semester is 2330. Surely, that is not what is charged for 5 weeks of summer. I couldnāt find summer rates, if they are different.
Mean Plan, I am not certain on that either. I am sure someone who accepts their admissions decision will get the info but it should would be nice to have it available prior to decisions.
From the FAQ How much does Gateway cost? When do I pay?
The tuition and fees for 6 the required hours and room & board are designated by the University based on standard summer prices. There is no additional fee for participating in the AGS program. Payment for summer is typically due by the end of the first week of summer session II classes.
What is General Studies?
General Studies (GEST) is the Universityās transition major. All students in the major are looking to gain admission to other majors on campus. It is housed in the Transition Academic Programs (TAP) office. It is a temporary major. TAP advisors help students in GEST look for appropriate majors and meet requirements to change to those majors within a year. Students who start in GEST are typically able to graduate from A&M on time.
